Clavinet D6 (stage version)

Here we have a cool Clavinet D6. Made in Germany in 1970s, this is the rare "stage" version, prior to being re-badged as an E7. The "Superstition" sound is instantly apparent, with the simple rocker switches and 9V battery operation (no mains required.....there is a 9V external PSu socket, but nobody ever uses it). Nothing but the real thing can sound/play like a Clavinet....nothing!!! Find "Machine Gun" by the Commodores......a great example of proper playing (instrumental track). This particular D6 has survived over nearly FIFTY years with great aplomb. Sourced from Manchester, it has been gigged, with lots of evidence of such. Now fully serviced, repaired, voiced & tuned by Klassic Keys GB (England). Study the photos...... Nice white keys are nigh perfect, nicely regulated (which means that they are even as possible). Pre-amp, hammer tips & strings are all working 100%. Damping/muting mechanism works well......and it is in tune (although fine tuning may be required after transit.....easy to do). Top lid is present, but is well tatty.. it will do its job, however, and protect the keys in transit. KKGB are throwing in an Akai auto-wah pedal. This wee device transforms the D6 into a fabby-funky delight! Summary Clavinets are velocity-sensitive, to a degree, and also have pressure...you can physically bend most notes (up in pitch, a wee bit) by pushing down hard.....Looks cool <>plays HOT! There are lots of YouTube videos to find. "Superstition" is always the song reference...which actually is in Ebm (which is relative minor of Gb)...thats all the black notes (aka "sharps")...in such a key, its impossible not to sound good....... Do note that servicing & voicing clavinets is NOT a job for the amateur enthusiast. Typically, a proper restoration will cost £500 (minimum). Re-stringing, tweaking the dampening yarn/gel, and setting the hammer tip strike is best left to an experienced pro, trust me.......never mind sorting out the key regulation.....Clavinets are electro-mechanical. NO MIDI~no mains~no USB~no Wi-fi~no Lo-fi~no NOTHING......coolest instrument in the world, fella! UK price is £3250. Mainland delivery by van-door-to-door is FREE, as far north as Dundee. Can be collected from KKGB, E. Midlands.
