1964 Gibson J-200 Acoustic Guitar Cherry Burst
Flat top royalty! This stunning '64 J-200 just arrived and it is every bit as impressive as it looks. Introduced in 1937 as the 'Super Jumbo', Gibson began tweaking the design over the years to emphasise its tonal quality, style and playability. Resulting in this absolute cannon of a guitar that we have before us! Comprised of a straight grain, Sitka Spruce top, married with a beautifully figured Maple back and sides that create a glassy and articulate top end, and a lower bout width of 17" providing the bass, power and projection. Tonally, this is a perfectly balanced instrument and up there as one of the nicest sounding acoustics we've ever had! Its had some work done to keep it in playing condition over the years; refretted, a bridge conversion (from what was probably the original Tune-o-matic of the era) and whilst there's been no alterations to the finish, it appears that filler lacquer has been added on top of the play wear to maintain the integrity of the wood after decades of performance. It comes with its OSHC and as always, our three year set up and servicing warranty is included in the price.
