Here for sale we have a Big Lou 'Wide Nut' Roadster in Tobacco Sunburst finish. Big Lou guitars are an American company who partner with Chinese factories to produce a range of electric and acoustic guitars with wide nuts and string spacing, aiming their instruments at the player with larger hands or those with conditions like arthritis. Clearly based on a Les Paul, this Roadster features a set-neck construction comprising a Mahogany body with Maple top, Maple neck and 22 fret Rosewood fingerboard. Chrome hardware is fitted including a T-O-M style bridge and Stopbar tailpiece and sealed tuning machines. A pair of covered humbucking pickups are installed, and are wired to the traditional Les Paul control layout. The Maple neck plays very well, with the notably wide nut width providing a very well spaced playing experience, perfect for accurate fretting with larger hands. Certainly unique, the large nut width provides extra space at the edge of the board despite the wider string spacing, preventing any 'falling off' the board when playing. The Shallow 'C' neck profile is well-proportioned, encouraging ergonomic thumb positioning across the register whilst providing easy reach in any fingerboard position. TheRosewood of the fingerboard is pleasant under the fingers, and with its 14" radius is practical for a wide range of styles and techniques. The pair of Covered Humbucking pickups deliver thick and full-bodied tones, just as we expect from an LP-style instrument. The neck position is round and warm, and provides plenty of power for pushing your lead and solo tones to the front of the mix. The bridge is of course brighter, and can drive your amp into a rich, saturated distortion tone for those rhythm parts and riffs. The middle position works very well for clean tones, delivering crystal clarity as well as warmth. The traditional control layout is as versatile as ever, ensuring that you can dial in your perfect tone right on the guitar. Very light scuffing is present at the top rear edge. The front face shows very light scratching when viewed under direct light, as is common with high gloss finishes. It is difficult to discern any other markings to the headstock. Neck: Overall very good condition. A finish crack is apparent to the heel. We have tested this and are confident it does not present structural concern. Any markings to the fingerboard are difficult to discern. Body: Overall excellent condition. Very light scratching to all aspects of the body is visible under direct light and close scrutiny, as is common with high gloss finishes. It is difficult to discern any other markings to the body. Condition of Frets: The frets demonstrate very light signs of use, not affecting playability. There is considerable material remaining for future fret work.
