Here for sale we have a Yamaha Revstar RS502 electric guitar in Billet Green finish. The Revstar series was introduced in 2015, having been developed over 2 years by YGD (Yamaha Guitar Development) in collaboration with as many guitarists as possible. The new series was positioned as the most innovative line of guitars released for decades, whilst still holding on to the important and well-loved features of more vintage-inspired instruments. New features included custom-designed pickups for every model and a specially chambered body designed to increase resonance and enhance tone. Made in Indonesia in 2016, this RS502 model features a set-neck construction comprising a Mahogany body with a Maple top, Mahogany neck and 22 fret Rosewood fingerboard. Matte Aluminium hardware is fitted, including a wraparound adjustable bridge and sealed tuning machines. A pair of YGD P-90 pickups are installed, and are wired to a 3-way blade switch, master volume and master tone controls, with a push​/​pull on the tone which acts as a 'Dry Switch'; cutting out low frequencies to emulate a single-coil without the noise or hum often associated with single-coils. The Mahogany neck plays very well, with the 'Medium' profile filling the hand nicely for a substantial yet articulate grip across the register. The profile might be described as a 'C' shape which offers comfortable playability across the neck. The 24.75" scale length leans into Gibson-style guitars, whilst the 13.75" fingerboard radius feels notably flat, and paired with the Jumbo frets is more akin to 'super-strats' and other more shred-focussed guitars. The generous double-cutaway body design and sculpted neck heel ensure that access to the upper frets is uninhibited, and the smooth lines and contours of the body are supremely comfortable in the arms. The pair of YGD P-90 pickups installed in this guitar deliver thick and throaty tones, well suited to a wide range of styles and techniques. Whilst technically a single-coil pickup, the P-90 falls sonically somewhere between a single-coil and humbuckers. The clarity and precision of the single-coil is retained whilst the thickness and grunt of humbuckers keeps things sounding powerful. The chambered body helps with resonance and dynamics, making the tone feel lively and responsive. The controls are nice and simple, ensuring you can focus on your playing whilst staying on top of your sound. It's easy to see why the Revstar series was so well received! Very light scratch marks to the front face can be seen under direct light, as is common with satin finishes. It is difficult to discern any other markings to the headstock. Neck: Overall excellent condition. Very light scratching to the fingerboard can be seen across the register under direct light and close scrutiny. These markings do not impact playability. Any other markings to the neck and fingerboard are difficult to discern. Body: Overall very good condition. A mild indentation to the centre of the rear face does not pierce the finish. A light indentation is present at the treble side rear edge of the lower bout. Light scratching to the front face near the controls is visible under direct light. The pickguard shows milder scratching consistent with playwear. Condition of Frets: The frets demonstrate minimal signs of use.
