Gibson Les Paul Deluxe Cherry Sunburst 1980 Vintage Electric
This guitar is a commission sale - if you have a high end guitar you are interested in selling, please contact us via our easy to find website - search: Sell Us Your Guitar. Here for sale we have a Gibson Les Paul Deluxe in Cherry Sunburst finish. The serial number and specification of this guitar indicate that it was made in 1980, with period-correct features such as the 3-piece Maple neck, mini humbuckers and CTS pots stamped 1979 verifying its authenticity and originality. Made in the USA, this guitar features a set-neck construction comprising a Mahogany body with carved 3pc Plain Maple top, Maple neck and 22 fret Rosewood fingerboard. This instrument is fitted with Chrome hardware including an ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge, stoptail and non-original Nickel Gibson Deluxe tuning machines with 'Tulip' buttons. The pickups are a pair 1980 Gibson Mini Humbuckers, wired to a 3-way toggle switch and independent volume and tone controls. The 3pc Maple neck plays very well, providing a substantial feel without becoming cumbersome- certainly a slimmer profile than some modern Gibsons, the playing experience is smooth and responsive across the register. The 12" fingerboard radius is traditional, and provides a nicely flat and consistent playing surface right the way up to the 22nd fret. The age of this guitar gives it an authentic played-in character that feels both familiar and inspiring in the hands, whilst benefiting from an incredibly professional refret. With no weight relief, this guitar tips the scales at 10.1lbs. This provides a reassuringly weighty feel, whilst the familiar lines of the body are comfortable in the arms. The Mini Humbuckers installed in this guitar are sought after for their unique sound, famously favoured by Pete Townshend of The Who used these pickups during the 1970's. With a tone that is somewhere between a full-size humbucker and a single coil, the sound is reminiscent of a PAF humbucker. Their smooth attack adds a grind when the amp is pushed into distortion, and the physically smaller size of the pickup results in a more mid-focused and brighter tone. This is an exquisitely preserved example of a 70's Les Paul, perfect for the player searching for an authentic vintage tone and their own genuine piece of Gibson's history. Luthier Report Our ID: 128022582080 Weight: 10.1lbs Serial: 81200562 Aesthetic Condition: Headstock: Overall very good condition. All aspects of the headstock demonstrate moderate scratching, chipping and indentation. This is most notable to the top edge where some chipping of the finish reveals the wood beneath. Neck: Overall very good condition. The rear of the neck demonstrates moderate scratching, indentation and wear of the finish revealing the wood beneath. This is most notable to the bass side of the neck at the 3rd fret. Some hazing or ‘bloom’ of the finish is apparent in the upper register of the rear. The fingerboard demonstrates light indentation in the early register from regular use which cannot be felt under the finger. Body: Overall very good condition. All aspects of the body demonstrate moderate scratching, chipping and indentation. This is most notable to the rear face where buckle rash has worn a small patch of finish away revealing the wood beneath. Other notable indentation which pierces the finish is apparent around the rear edge, more notably on the bass side and at the tip of the cutaway. The bottom strap stud and bass side of the stop tail bushing have been pushed further into the body slightly. These are stable. Condition of Frets: The frets demonstrate very light signs of use, with considerable material remaining. This guitar has had a recent re-fret which has been performed to a professional standard. As such, the binding nibs have been removed. Current Set Up: Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool (5/16" socket) not included. Hardware: Fully functional with light signs of wear.
