1980s Casio EG-5 Eleking White
The Japanese are well known for their innovation, and this guitar epitomises it. In the early 80s, those fine folk at Casio decided to try something new. Putting down their keyboards, digital watches and calculators, they decided to design the guitar of the future. This is truly unique. The guitar is built around a metal frame, housing not only a built in amplifier and speaker, but also a distortion pedal and a cassette tape deck. This is all housed in a very durable plastic shell, and has a maple neck bolted on. The guitar was manufactured by FujiGen Gakki, so despite being what might be considered a novelty guitar, the build quality is second to none. The guitar boasts both inputs, and outputs, alongside the ability to record direct onto cassette tape, and control the playback speed. If you use a modified cassette you can even use this to create analog loops! The creative possibilities are almost endless, this is a super tool for any studio musician or experimental guitarist out there and comes complete with a fresh set of C cell batteries. Did I mention they were only available in Japan?
