Ibanez FRM250MF Paul Gilbert Signature Amber 2014 Electric G

Here for sale we have an Ibanez FRM250MF Paul Gilbert Signature electric guitar in 'Amber' finish. The FRM250MF was introduced by Paul Gilbert at the 2014 NAMM show to celebrate his 25 year relationship with Ibanez, with his first PGM signature having been released in 1989. The FRM250MF was made in China and only offered in 2014. A set neck construction is employed, and comprises a Chambered Mahogany body with Flamed Maple top, Mahogany neck and 22 fret Rosewood fingerboard. Chrome hardware is fitted including an Ibanez Tight Tune fixed bridge and Tight Tune tailpiece, along with a set of Gotoh SG381 sealed tuning machines. A trio of passive DiMarzio humbucking pickups are installed, with Air Classic humbuckers in the neck and bridge and an Area '67 single-coil in the middle. These are wired to a 5-way blade switch, master volume and master tone controls. The tone control is only active in positions 3-5. The Mahogany neck plays very well, with the FRM profile being surprisingly substantial considering the fast and furious playing style that Gilbert is known for. Certainly, the profile is distinct from Ibanez' 'Wizard' profiles, yet thanks to the smooth gloss finish and sculpted heel, the neck feels fast and easily manoeuvrable for shredding solos and lead lines. With a 12" radius and 24.75" scale length, the FRM250MF has a playing experience somewhat reminiscent of a Gibson, but with narrow tall frets and a radical body design to go along with Ibanez' razor-sharp attention to detail, things are kept nicely refined for the contemporary player. The trio of DiMarzio pickups in this guitar are installed in an HSH configuration, and deliver a wide range of thick, full bodied and vintage inspired tones that are perfect for the modern lead guitarist. The Air Classic humbuckers in the neck and bridge positions are designed to capture the magic of '50s PAF humbuckers, whilst using modern technology to overcome the drawbacks of the original pickups. This is apparent immediately when plugging in, with warm and fuzzy tones in the neck and biting clear tones from the bridge. The Area '67 in the middle is a stacked single coil which uses its 'spare' coil to cancel out the hum that is typically associated with vintage-style single-coils. An exciting and unique signature model, well suited to a wide range of playing styles and sounds.
