Here for sale we have a Fender Special Edition Custom Telecaster FMT HH in Crimson Red Transparent finish. Crafted in Korea in 2004, this is one of the earlier examples of these guitars before production was moved to Indonesia. A set-neck construction is employed and comprises a Mahogany body with Carved Flame Maple top, Mahogany neck and 22 fret Rosewood fingerboard. This instrument is equipped with Black Nickel hardware including 6-saddle string-thru-body hardtail bridge and sealed tuning machines. The pickups have been upgraded by a previous owner to a pair of DiMarzio passive humbuckers, with a DP-100 in the neck and DP-166 in the bridge. These are wired to a 3-way toggle switch, master volume and master tone controls, with a push​/​pull coil split function on the tone knob. The Mahogany neck plays very well, with a profile which is slightly different from the more modern examples of these instruments. It could perhaps be described as a 'D' shape, with a flattened area to the centre rear which encourages ergonomic thumb positioning. The Rosewood fingerboard is pleasant to the touch, and with its 15.75" radius offers a flat and consistent playing experience right the way up the register. This is enhanced by the Jumbo frets which assist with bending and vibrato techniques. The set-neck construction and sculpted neck heel provide fantastic access to the upper frets, whilst the Carved Flame Maple top and belly carve body contour ensure comfort on long gigs or practice sessions. The pair of DiMarzio humbuckers installed in this instrument deliver thick and full bodied tones, with a rich variety of tonal opportunities thanks to the coil-splitting function. The neck position is warm and round, and offers crystal clarity with clean sounds. The bridge position is bright and snappy, with plenty of the bite required for rock lead tones, offering a harmonically saturated distortion that easily cuts through the mix. The addition of the coil split function on the tone control adds the opportunity for thinner, more traditional Telecaster sounds, cleaning up your sound right on the guitar. A moderate indentation to the treble side rear edge has broken through the finish exposing the wood beneath. All other aspects of the headstock display light signs of past use. Neck: Overall excellent condition. Any markings to the neck and fingerboard are difficult to discern. Body: Overall excellent condition. The front face shows a light finish crack to the bass side shoulder, near the upper strap button. Light scratching to all aspects of the body is visible under direct light, as is common with high gloss finishes. This is most notable to the rear face consistent with playwear. Condition of Frets: The frets demonstrate light signs of use, not affecting playability. There is considerable material remaining for any future fret work the new owner may wish to perform. Current Set Up: Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool (4mm hex) not included. Hardware: Fully functional with moderate signs of wear. Tarnishing of all the metal hardware is most notable to the bridge and tone control. Structural: No concerns or issues to note.
