Here for sale we have a Fender Standard Precision Bass in Black finish. Manufactured in Mexico in 2003, this bass features a bolt-on construction comprising an Alder body, Maple neck and 20-fret Rosewood fingerboard. Chrome hardware is fitted including a 4-saddle standard top-loading bridge and standard open-geared tuning machines. A Fender Standard Precision Bass Split Single-Coil pickup is installed, and is wired to master volume and tone controls. The Maple neck plays very comfortably, with Fenders Modern ‘C’ profile filling the hand reassuringly whilst still allowing for comfortable reach in all registers. The double cutaway body design offers easy access into the upper register. This works well with the smooth finish to the rear of the neck which allows for smooth navigation of the 34” scale. The Medium Jumbo fret wire combined with the 9.5” radius provides a rock solid feel under the fingers and is practical for a wide range of playing styles and techniques. The Standard Split Single-Coil pickup installed in this guitar delivers great fundamental bass tone, which is apparent as soon as you plug the instrument in. The low end is thick and full-bodied, ensuring that your bass playing fills out the mix nicely. The mids are punchy and clear, whilst the sparkly top end captures all the spank and attack of your playing, keeping you in the front of the mix. The front and rear faces present moderate delamination of the finish, which has chipped in places. This is most notable to the front face where the ‘Precision’ decal has chipped away, with lighter chipping of the ‘Fender’ logo. Mild indentation and scuffing can be seen to the top edge of the headstock, lightly exposing the wood beneath. Neck: Overall very good condition. Very light indentation to the rear of the neck is consistent throughout the register. These markings are only slightly felt under the thumb in the playing position, and do not impact the overall playability of the instrument. The satin finish to the rear of the neck has worn to a light gloss through regular use. Any markings to the fingerboard are difficult to discern. Body: Overall very good condition. Light to mild indentation can be seen to both the treble and bass side edges of the lower bout, piercing the finish in places but not exposing the wood. Light scratching to all aspects of the body is visible under direct light, as is common with high gloss finishes. Condition of Frets: The frets demonstrate light signs of use, not affecting playability. There is moderate material remaining for any future fret work the new owner may wish to perform.
