Avalon Legacy Series L25c Gloss Natural 2007 Jumbo Electro

This instrument is a commission sale. If you have a high-end instrument or musical equipment you are interested in selling please contact us. This guitar is offered for sale to UK BUYERS ONLY. Here for sale we have an Avalon L25c Jumbo electro-acoustic guitar in Gloss Natural finish. Handmade in the Northern Ireland Newtownards factory in 2007, this guitar is part of Avalon's early flagship Legacy Series. The series was introduced at the top end of the Avalon range in 2003, and discontinued in 2013 to be replaced by the Ard Ri and Pioneer series. Avalon Guitars was originally founded as The Lowden Guitar Co. in 1989 after purchasing the purpose-built factory, staff and assets of Lowden from receivership. When the licence agreement with George Lowden expired in 2003, Avalon was born, and grew into the worldwide guitar company we know today. Whilst distinct from Lowden, Avalon guitars- especially those made in the Newtownards factory- share Lowden's fantastic build quality and excellent reputation amongst players. This instrument features an all-solid construction comprising an impressive selection of tonewoods. The body is made with Indian Rosewood back and sides, with a beautifully dark Cedar top. The body is double bound with Pearwood, whilst the Rosette has been inlaid with attractive Mother of Pearl. The neck is of 2-piece Mahogany construction, and is topped with a Rosewood headplate and 20 fret Ebony fingerboard, bound in Rosewood. The fingerboard also features a beautiful 12th fret inlay, which the manufacturer has confirmed is a one-off design. The bridge is made with Brazilian Rosewood, closely matching the Indian Rosewood back and sides, whilst the saddle and nut are Bone. A set of Gold Avalon tuning machines are finished with Ebony buttons. A Fishman Ellipse Matrix Blend system is installed, with both an undersaddle piezo pickup and electret condenser cardioid microphone. These are wired to the discreetly sound hole-mounted preamp, which features controls for volume, mic/pickup blend, phase reverse and microphone trim. The 2-piece Mahogany neck plays beautifully, with a profile which could be described as a moderately-sized 'C' shape. This fills the hand for a substantial and confidence-inspiring grip whilst remaining slim enough for tricky chord voicings and articulate melodic playing. Certainly, the neck is practical for a wide range of playing styles and techniques; feeling well suited to chord playing, melodic lines and fingerpicking patterns alike. The Ebony of the fingerboard is nice and dark in appearance, and along with its supremely tight grain provides a smooth, durable and luxurious playing surface. The Jumbo body shape feels great in the arms, ensuring comfort in both standing and seated positions, whilst the cutaway opens up the full range of the instrument. The acoustic voice of the Avalon L25c is rich and warm, and provides a surprising amount of balance for a jumbo-bodied acoustic. Lows are warm without being too soft, retaining plenty of accuracy. The midrange is tight and punchy, helping to easily cut through a mix when playing as part of an ensemble. The treble response is bright and shimmering, adding a sparkle to every note played on the instrument. One real standout feature of this instrument is the sheer amount of sustain it achieves, with notes and chords ringing out with beautiful crystalline clarity. The Indian Rosewood back and sides add depth and richness to the sound, working in conjunction with the Jumbo body design to deliver a warm bass response and clear mid range. The on-board Fishman Ellipse Matrix Blend hybrid pickup and preamp system does a fantastic job of conveying the acoustic voice of the instrument in recording and live situations, meaning this guitar is ready for wherever the gig takes you. Luthier Report Our ID: 1200525101250 Weight: 4.95lbs Serial: L-01328 Aesthetic Condition: Headstock: Overall very good condition. A light indentation to the treble side front edge can be seen near the 1st E tuner, lightly piercing the finish. Further similar indentation to the top edge is most notable at the bass side corner. Light scratching to all aspects of the headstock is visible under direct light, most notably to the centre of the front face. Neck: Overall excellent condition. Some very light playwear is apparent in the early register of the fingerboard which is difficult to discern against the natural grain and cannot be felt under the string. The satin finish to the rear of the neck has worn to a gloss through regular use. Body: Overall very good condition. The front face demonstrates pick-wear and indentation to the bass side between the soundhole and waist. These markings do not pierce the finish. Further lighter scratching and indentation can be identified across the lower bout, however some of these do chip and pierce the finish slightly. This is perhaps most notable at the treble side edge of the front face. The sides demonstrate similar wear, most notable to the treble side lower bout. The rear face demonstrates a light indentation towards the bottom edge. Though this does not pierce the finish, it is approx 4cm across. The pickguard shows light scratching consistent with playwear. Condition of Frets: The frets demonstrate moderate signs of use, with moderate indentation in the early register not affecting playability and quickly improving as you climb the neck. There is considerable material remaining for future fret work. Current Set Up: Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool (5mm hex) not included. Hardware: Fully functional with very light signs of use. The clear pickguard shows signs of beginning to lift at the edges, most notably near the cutaway and treble side of the bridge. Structural: No concerns or issues to note. Height of the string from the 12th Fret-1mm - Bass 2mm Please be aware that the action on a guitar may move slightly in transit and this measurement is the current height. Strings on Guitar - 11-52 This instrument is set-up for fingerstyle, and as such a player with a heavy plectrum attack may find the strings rattle. This can be alleviated by raising the action with a new saddle or a shim. Electrics: Fully functional. Case & Accessories: Original Hiscox hard case The case demonstrates light signs of use. Truss rod tool not included. This instrument is a commission sale. If you have a high-end instrument or musical equipment you are interested in selling please contact us. This guitar is offered for sale to UK BUYERS ONLY.
