Here for sale we have a Martin D-28 Acoustic Guitar in Natural Gloss finish. Made in the USA in 1973, this acoustic guitar consists of a solid Spruce top, solid Rosewood back and sides, a Mahogany neck, and a 20-fret Ebony fingerboard. Other appointments include Grover tuners, an Ebony bridge, Mother of Pearl inlays, and straight, non-scalloped bracing. This guitar represents a classic era of Martin Guitars, known for their balanced, and powerful sound, the D-28 is an icon of the Acoustic Guitar world and still sits atop the throne of dreadnoughts. The Mahogany neck plays very well, with the slight "V" profile sitting very comfortably in the hand and providing easy fretting and ergonomic thumb positioning in all registers. The Ebony fingerboard is pleasant under the fingers, and with attractive Mother of Pearl inlays adds a real sense of luxury to the playing experience. The traditional 16" radius remains as practical as ever, well suited to both chordal, fingerstyle and melodic playing styles across the register. The Dreadnought body shape is comfortable in the arms, with the all-solid construction ensuring a resonant and lively experience for the player. The voice of the Martin D-28 is rich and beautiful, and really lives up to the reputation that this iconic guitar commands. The East Indian Rosewood back and sides provide a silky smooth bass response that remains detailed and accurate across the dynamic range. The mids are punchy and clear, and add a warmth and clarity to the tone. The top end is sparkly and bright, adding a glistening quality to every note played on the instrument. The dynamic range of the Martin D-28 is truly impressive. Gentle playing is rewarded with a very tender and soft tone, ramping smoothly up to the rich, loud chord strumming sound that the Dreadnought is renowned for. A truly fantastic example of an iconic instrument. Our ID: 13105251049015 Weight: 4.5lbs Serial: 331393 Aesthetic Condition: Headstock: Overall good condition, the top of the headstock demonstrates several notable indentations. These pierce and chip the finish slightly, revealing the wood beneath. Further lighter indentation is apparent around the perimeter of the headstock. The rear face has a Denmark street shop sticker stuck to the center, which we've left in place. Scratching is apparent to all aspects of the headstock, particularly around the machine heads. The volute demonstrates similar indentation and chipping to the finish. Neck: Overall very good condition, the rear of the neck demonstrates light scratching and indentation is apparent throughout the register which can be slightly felt under the thumb in playing position. The fingerboard has evidence of a previous re-fret surrounding some of the middle frets, however this work has been performed to an exceedingly professional standard and evidence is only visible upon close inspection. One chip to the fingerboard edge is apparent to the 15th fret treble side edge of the fingerboard extension. Body: Overall good condition, the front face demonstrates notable wear on the finish to the treble side shoulder, revealing the wood beneath. The lower bout and bass side shoulder demonstrate consistent light to moderate indentation which pierces the finish slightly in places. Some "speckling" of the finish is apparent throughout the lower bout under direct lighting at certain angles. The treble side waist towards treble side shoulder on the side of the guitar demonstrates a patch of missing finish, revealing the natural wood beneath. All sides and edges demonstrate light to moderate indentations, some piercing the finish. This is most notable to the bass side shoulder. Scratching is apparent to either side of the soundhole, from regular playwear. The rear face demonstrates consistent buckle rash across the majority of the face, piercing the finish very slightly in some spots. Condition of Frets: This instrument has had a professional level re-fret at some point recently. There is light signs of use to the frets not affecting playability. There is considerable material remaining for future fret work. Current Set Up: Truss Rod: No truss rod. Hardware: Fully functional, with light signs of wear. Structural: No concerns or issues to note. Height of the string from the 12th Fret-1.5mm - Bass 2.5mm Please be aware that the action on a guitar may move slightly in transit and this measurement is the current height.
