Here for sale we have a Tanglewood TW 40 D AN E Dreadnought Electro-Acoustic Guitar in Natural Gloss finish. Designed by Tanglewood in the UK, this set-neck constructed guitar consists of a solid Sitka Spruce top, Mahogany back and sides, a Mahogany neck, and a 20-fret Laurel fingerboard. Other appointments include a bone saddle, a bone nut, open-gear vintage-style tuners, a Walnut bridge, and a Fishman PreSys preamp system with soundhole-mounted controls for volume and tone. The Mahogany neck plays superbly well, with a profile which might be described as a very soft 'V' shape. This encourages ergonomic thumb positioning in all registers and provides easy reach as well as smooth and responsive playability. The Laurel fingerboard feels smooth to the touch, and with the 16" radius provides a playing surface capable of a wide variety of playing styles, whilst fretting is a breezy and sumptuous affair in any register, whilst the body design feels great in both seated and standing positions, perfect for the singer​/​songwriter type of player. The voice of the TW 40 D AN E is rich and warm, the Mahogany back and sides provide a silky smooth bass response that remains detailed and accurate across the dynamic range. The mids are punchy and clear, and add a warmth and clarity to the tone. The top end is sparkly and bright, adding a glistening quality to every note played on the instrument. The dynamic range of the TW 40 D AN E is impressive. Gentle playing is rewarded with a very tender and soft tone, ramping smoothly up to the rich, loud chord strumming sound that the Dreadnought is renowned for. The Fishman PreSys preamp system really enhances the voice of the guitar and is pleasantly discreet with its soundhole mounted controls, keeping the traditional feel of the guitar. The top edge and sides of the nut shelf display tooling and scuff marks consistent with a nut replacement. The rest of the headstock is in excellent condition with only light scratching. Neck: Overall excellent condition. Any markings are difficult to discern aside from a small scuff mark on the treble side of the rear of neck beside the 2nd fret.. Body: Overall excellent condition. There are a small number of small indentations to the front face lower bout, none of which break the finish. Light scratching is evident to the rear face lower bout. Condition of Frets: The frets demonstrate light scratching not affecting playability. There is material remaining for any future fret work the new owner may wish to perform. Current Set Up: Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss Rod Tool (4mm Hex) not included. Hardware: Fully functional and excellent condition. The nut appears to have been replaced with a bone one. Whilst not a perfect fit on the bass side with the nut not fully fitting in the slot, the string spacing and slots are all correct and playability and intonation is correct.
