This is a lovely 1966 Fender Precision Bass in Sunburst finish. She has seen some action over the years previously owned by Steve Howe of YES. The original neck was replaced with a 1969 Fender Precision neck, hence the different logo from a ‘66. The rear of the headstock is also signed by Steve ( see pic). The rest is original plus it comes with pics, extract from the book and a paperwork from Steve showing the bass and confirming its provenance. It was his main recording bass, and features on albums such as Beginnings and The Steve Howe Album and others The reference in the Steve Howe Guitar Book (1996) : “I got my Precision from George Gruhn in 1974, but I soon discovered a terrible problem with the neck, so I got Sam Li to put a newer Precision neck on it for me, and I got to like the bass a lot…. With the Precision coming in, I suddenly felt like I had a true instrument… It has a natural purity to its sound that I’ve never had on any other bass. It doesn’t need to be enhanced in the way that some other basses do when you record them. So now it’s a matter of: if indoubt, play the Precision. I know that if I start with that I’ll be on the right track. I do now get the Precision out a little bit, but the Precision bass is the main bass I record with for my solo albums” Comes with his original old case Weight 4kg
