Here for sale we have a Gibson Slash 'Jessica' Les Paul Standard in Honey Burst with Red Back finish. Made in the USA in 2024, this guitar is based on Slash's main stage guitar which was one of two Les Pauls Gibson sent to Slash in the late '80s. Jessica was a factory second, and was originally shipped in a Cherry Sunburst finish. Slash loved the guitar and has used it extensively on stage since he received it, even having it refinished in Honey Burst. The Gibson Slash 'Jessica' Les Paul Standard is a faithful recreation of this instrument, save for the extensive playwear that the original has acquired over its many years on the road. Naturally, a set neck construction is employed, and comprises a non weight-relieved Mahogany body with 3pc Maple top, Mahogany neck and 22 fret Indian Rosewood fingerboard. Chrome hardware is fitted including a Nashville TOM bridge, StopBar tailpiece & Gibson Deluxe tuning machines with Keystone 'Tulip' buttons. A pair of Gibson Custom Burstbucker Alnico 2 humbucking pickups with double black exposed coils are installed, and are wired to the standard Les Paul controls. The wiring itself is performed by hand and includes Orange Drop capacitors. The Mahogany neck plays beautifully, with the '50s Vintage profile filling the hand comfortably for a substantial and highly characterful playing experience across the register. Certainly living up to its 'Vintage' name, the girth of the neck inspires confidence for bluesy riffs and rhythm playing whilst remaining practical for lead lines and solos. The nut width is slightly larger than the typical 1.6875" too, at 1.695". This is a subtle difference but does add to the overall vintage 'flavour' of the playing experience. Medium jumbo frets enhance the feel of vibrato and string bending techniques, whilst the Indian Rosewood fingerboard is supremely pleasant under the fingers. Amplified, the pair of Custom Burstbucker Alnico 2 humbucking pickups deliver thick, full-bodied tones, with plenty of grit and crunch for those dirty riffs and powerful lead lines. The bridge position is hot, producing a saturated and searing distortion tone that is perfectly suited to Slash style riffing. The neck pickup is rounder and warmer, and blasts your solo tones to the front of the mix with ease. The traditional Les Paul controls are as practical as ever, with the orange drop capacitors and hand-finished wiring helping them to respond well to small changes for tonal versatility while playing. A light chip is present at the treble side top corner which has lightly exposed the wood beneath. The top rear edge shows very light scuffing under close scrutiny. At the centre of the ‘open book’ on the top edge, a small section of finish appears bumpy, likely due to a factory finish imperfection. Light scratching to the front face is visible under direct light, as is common with high gloss finishes. This is most notable between the A & D tuning posts. Neck: Overall excellent condition. Any markings to the neck and fingerboard are difficult to discern. Body: Overall very good condition. Light scratching and scuffing to the rear face is most notable at the bass side lower bout. The scratching is only visible under direct light, however the scuff mark is more prominent. A mild indentation to the rear face is present towards the centre of the lower bout, lightly cracking the finish but not exposing the wood. All other aspects of the body display light signs of past use. Condition of Frets: The frets demonstrate light signs of use, not affecting playability. There is considerable material remaining for any fret work the new owner may wish to perform. Current Set Up: Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool (5​/​16" socket) included. Hardware: Excellent condition. The ‘Slash’ truss rod cover is missing. Structural: No concerns or issues to note.
