Made in Indonesia in 2023, this bolt-on constructed bass consists of a Mahogany body, a 5-piece Maple​/​Walnut neck, and a 24-fret Walnut fingerboard. Other appointments include a Mono-Rail Bridge by Alchemy, a Bone nut, a Custom Designed Headpiece by Alchemy, and a set of Custom Active Single Coil pickups. These pickups are wired to a master volume, pickup blend, and a three-band EQ. The 5-pc Maple​/​Walnut neck plays exactly as expected from HILS' NEXT range. A sleek and fast design with a rounder D profile than the more modern speed necks allows for a more traditional feel to a notably modern design. The satin finish to the neck feels comfortable under the thumb, allowing easy gliding up and down the register. The Walnut fingerboard provides a smooth and eye-catching playing surface, with the stainless steel frets allowing for unbelievable bends. The headless construction of the bass ensures that neck-dive will never be an issue, coupled with the ergonomic shape of the body, this bass is a delight to hold and play. The Custom Active Single Coils pickups have a natural warm tone that present full bodied notes with clarity. The range of controls that are available to the player give a wide variety of tonal range that can be explored with multiple combinations. The pickup balancer also offers a smooth blend between the pickups, and alongside the 3-band EQ, allows the player full control over every tonal aspect of this bass. Light indentations are present to the headstock, the most apparent of these can be seen below the nut which breaks the finish. Neck: Overall excellent condition. Light discoloration can be seen at the heel of the neck, this is common with past use. Any markings to the fingerboard are difficult to discern. Body: Overall very good condition. Moderate finish cracking can be seen to the treble side lower bout front face, this has been tested and present no structural concerns. Along with this a previous owner has used filler to the treble side lower bout in an attempt to fill some of the lacquer cracks. Light scratching is present to all aspects of the body, these can be seen under direct light. Condition of Frets: The frets demonstrate very light signs of use, not affecting playability. There is considerable material remaining for any fret work the new owner may wish to perform. Current Set Up: Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool (4mm hex) not included. Hardware: Overall very good condition. Light glue residue can be seen to the scratchplate, this is from when the original plastic film was applied, with this light scratching can also be seen to the scratchplate.
