Here for sale we have an Ibanez S470 Electric Guitar in Natural finish. Made in Japan in 1997, this guitar features a Mahogany body, Maple neck and a 22-fret Rosewood fingerboard. The hardware featured on this guitar consists of a Ibanez Lo-TRS tremolo bridge and Gotoh sealed tuning machines. The pickups in this guitar are a trio of Ibanez V1, V2 humbuckers and a Ibanez S2 single-coil, these are wired to 5-way selector, Master volume and tone controls. The Maple ‘Wizard’ profile neck sits comfortably in the hand, and with its Satin finish, that has been buffed to a gloss from previous playing, provides a quick and smooth surface to navigate on. The Rosewood fingerboard feels pleasant under the fingers whilst the 15.75” radius and Jumbo frets assist with string bending and vibrato techniques, feeling rock solid under the fingers and providing a smooth and reliable playing surface. The body cutaways provide unobstructed access right up to the 22nd fret and the 1.4” body thickness provides a lightweight guitar that is comfortable in both sitting and standing positions. The two Ibanez V1 and V2 humbuckers produce a thick and powerful modern tone. The neck pickup provides crystal clear clean sounds, with more aggressive mids and increased sustain as you crank the gain, this is perfect for high-speed solos and long sustained melodic interludes. The bridge pickup offers a tight bottom end, and a searing high frequency cut, making a great pickup for heavy styles of music and modern techniques. The Ibanez S2 single-coil in the middle position sits great with a nice balance of bright trebles and full warm bass, and lends itself well to rhythm tones. Providing a great feel and clarity, allowing the player to achieve a wide variety of tones all at the fingertips. Light indentations can be seen to the edges of the headstock, the most apparent of these can be seen to the tip of the headstock where discoloration is present. Light discoloration can be seen to the edges and rear of the headstock common with a guitar of this age. Light to mild scratching can be seen to the front face of the headstock, these can be seen under direct light and have scratched away some of the silver lettering to the letters. A previous owner has put a sticker to the rear of the headstock, a new owner can remove this if they wish. Neck: Overall good condition. Light cracks are present to the rear of the neck in the early register, this is from a previous break which has been repaired to a good standard and present no structural concerns. Either side of the repair moderate discoloration is present common with regular past use on a guitar of this age. Light scratching and indentations are present across the register to the rear of the neck, these can only be seen under direct light at close scrutiny and can not be felt in the playing position. Any markings to the fingerboard are difficult to discern. Body: Overall very good condition. All aspects of the body display light indentations which do not break the finish, the most apparent of these can be seen across the front face and bass side edges. The satin finish in high contact areas has been polished to a light gloss texture, this is common with regular past use on satin finishes. Condition of Frets: The frets demonstrate moderate signs of use, not affecting playability. Denting and flattening of the frets is apparent throughout the register. There is moderate material remaining for any fret work the new owner may wish to perform. Current Set Up: Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool (4mm hex) not included. Hardware: Overall good condition. The bass side bridge post has threaded meaning that the bridge height to the bass side can not be adjusted, a new owner may choose to replace this post. Moderate tarnishing and oxidation can be seen to the metal hardware most apparently to the bridge, this is common with regular past use in a high contact area. Scratching is present to the pickup covers. Tremolo arm is included. Structural: No concerns or issues to note.
