Launching onto the scene in 1959 as the deluxe version of the already popular ES-335, it boasts all of the luxury appointments to entice purveyors of great, variable tone and show stopping aesthetics. The gold hardware, trapeze tailpiece, split diamond MOP inlays, stereo output and of course, the Varitone - a six way rotary switch that blends combinations of inductor and capacitors to the pickup options to offer the player a myriad of tones. Favoured famously by B.B. King as his 'magic switch' (Listen to 'The Thrill is Gone' for a reference to position 2!).
