Here for sale we have the Charvel ATX Chambered electro acoustic guitar in Trans Green finish. Manufactured in South Korea in the early 1990’s this guitar features a bolt on neck construction comprising a Chambered Mahogany body with a quilted Maple top, an Eastern Maple neck and a 24 fret Rosewood fingerboard. Other features include a six in line headstock with vintage style tuners and a string through construction. A Fishman Transducer is installed on this guitar which is wired to a master volume and sliders for the bass, mid and treble EQ. The Maple neck on this guitar is a very easy one to get along with, having been carved into a Slim ‘C’ shape. The profile also feels asymmetrical underhand, feeling slightly thicker on the bass side, this assists in achieving a comfortable grip. The rear of the neck has a satin feel, which when combined with the Rosewood fingerboard makes for a luxuriously smooth feel underhand. The lightweight body, weighing in at 5.5lbs, makes this guitar the perfect companion for those prolonged rehearsals or gigs. The ATX was initially designed to produce the sound of a traditional acoustic guitar whilst eliminating the feedback associated with using a mic or pickup in a fully hollowbody guitar. The chambered design combined with the undersaddle Fishman pickup achieves this brilliantly, with the ‘special thickness’ top allowing the guitar to vibrate enough to produce a full acoustic sound without the associated feedback. The string through design means that the strings are anchored and secure, further reducing feedback and ensuring that the bridge saddle is in perfect contact with the transducer element at all times. The tone of the guitar can easily be altered with the 3-Band EQ as well as a master volume control. Light to mild indentations to the tip of the headstock lightly pierce the finish. Light scratching to all aspects of the headstock can be seen under close scrutiny, as is common with high gloss finishes. Neck: Overall very good condition. At either side of the nut light indentations which are lightly felt under the fingers are present. Light scratching to the rear of the neck can be seen in the early register. A small area of glue residue can be seen at the 7th fret of the fingerboard. None of these markings impact the overall playability of the instrument. Body: Overall good condition. The rear face displays consistent indentation and scratching, which has pierced the finish in places exposing the wood beneath. This is most notable to the edges of the instrument, particularly the treble side edge of the lower bout and around the bottom rear edge of the instrument. A notable finish crack is present at the treble side of the neck pocket, close to the upper treble side bolt. We have removed the neck and tested the pocket to ensure that the damage is purely cosmetic. Light to mild scratching and indentation is present across the front face, most notably at the treble side of the lower bout where the finish is lightly cracked. These markings are only visible under scrutiny. Condition of Frets: The frets show light signs of use, not affecting playability. Denting and flattening of the frets is noticeable through the entire register. There is moderate material remaining for any light fret work the new owner may wish to perform. Current Set Up: Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool (4mm hex) not included. Hardware: Overall very good condition. The tuning machines display mild tarnishing. Structural: No concerns or issues to note.
