Here for sale we have an EVH Wolfgang Special in Black finish. EVH guitars was launched in 2007 with the clear and single mission of putting Eddie Van Halen's tools and equipment into the hands of his fans and guitar players looking for the ultra-speedy and precision focussed ethos that Eddie's guitars adhere to. The Wolfgang was the original model that launched the EVH brand, having been named for Eddie's son and combining his years of experience and expertise into one high-performance package. This Wolfgang Special was Made in China in 2013 and features a bolt-on construction comprising a Basswood body with Maple Veneer top, Quartersawn Maple body & 22 fret Birdseye Maple fingerboard. Chrome hardware is fitted including an EVH branded Floyd Rose double-locking tremolo system & EVH-branded Gotoh tuning machines with Pearloid buttons. A pair of Custom Designed passive humbucking pickups are installed, and are wired to a 3-way toggle switch, master volume and master tone controls. The tone control uses a high friction pot, whilst the volume uses a low friction pot, The Quartersawn Maple neck plays exceptionally well, with the Wolfgang Backshape profile providing a smooth, responsive and precise playing experience across the register. The Oil finish to the rear of the neck ensures a smooth and supple feel in the hand whilst assisting with navigation of the 25.5" scale. The Birdseye Maple of the fingerboard is luxurious under the fingers, adding a real sense of exclusivity to the instrument. The 12"-16" radius is rounder in the lower register and flatter as you climb the neck, ensuring that the playing experience is tailored to the needs of the musician in all registers. The Vintage-Style frets make a nice change from the Jumbos usually found on instruments of this type. Not all humbuckers are created equal. The Custom Designed direct mount EVH humbuckers with Alnico 2 magnets are hot and harness Eddie’s scorching signature lead tone that captivated the world of rock ‘n’ roll in the ‘70s and ‘80s. These pickups deliver rich harmonics, cutting highs and snarling mids in spades. The bridge pickup provides a fat and punchy humbucker sound, making power chords sound gritty, whilst also providing soaring lead tones with broad tonal dynamics. However, with subtler amp settings the bridge offers a bright, glassy clean tone making harmonics sing with a bell like tonality. The middle position provides bright trebles and full warm bass, and lends itself well to rhythm tones. The neck pickup offers a smooth, warm, rounded tone that handles distorted tones as well as it handles clean tones, making solo lines a sumptuous affair. Luthier Report Our ID: 1180825127210 Weight: 7.6lbs Serial: WGS122623C Aesthetic Condition: Headstock: Overall very good condition. Pen markings are present to the treble side edge of the headstock. Light indentations are present to the top edges of the headstock, these can only be seen under close scrutiny. Light discoloration can be seen to the edges and rear face, this is common with regular past use on natural finishes. Neck: Overall very good condition. Moderate discoloration is present to both the neck and fingerboard, this is common with regular past use on open pore finish. This is most apparent to the treble side edge of the fingerboard and at the heel of the neck. Body: Overall very good condition. A finish imperfection is present at the bass side of the fingerboard extension, with a very small section of wood exposed. This is only visible under close scrutiny. Light scuffing of the finish is present to the lower bout of the rear face, visible under direct light. All aspects of the body display light scratching which can be seen under direct light, as is common with high gloss finishes. Condition of Frets: The frets demonstrate very light signs of use, not affecting playability. There is considerable material remaining for any fret work the new owner may wish to perform. Current Set Up: Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool (spoke wheel) not included. Hardware: Very good condition with mild tarnishing of the bridge. Tremolo arm included. Structural: No concerns or issues to note. Height of the string from the 12th Fret-1.5mm - Bass 2mm Please be aware that the action on a guitar may move slightly in transit and this measurement is the current height.
