Here for sale we have a Fender Limited Edition '62 Bound Telecaster in Vintage White finish. Made in Japan in 2015, this is a special edition of the very popular TL-62 which has been available from Fender Japan since 1983. Based on the '62 specification of Fender's Telecaster Custom which was originally introduced in 1959, this model has a special finish with black binding which was not previously available. A bolt-on construction is employed, and comprises an Alder body, Maple neck and 21 fret slab Rosewood fingerboard. Chrome hardware is fitted including a 3-saddle vintage-style bridge and vintage-style split-post tuning machines. A pair of Fender Japan Vintage-Style Telecaster single-coil pickups are installed, and are wired to a 3-way blade switch, master volume and master tone controls. The Maple neck plays fantastically well, with the 'C' Shape profile filling the hand nicely for a substantial yet articulate playing experience across the register. Whilst not a thick neck, there is certainly a vintage character to the profile thanks to the slightly broader shoulders than is typically found on Fender's more modern necks. The Rosewood of the fretboard is luxurious under the fingers, and with its vintage-correct 7.25" radius and vintage-style frets offers a suitably authentic playing experience. The smooth lines of the Telecaster body are as comfortable in the arms as ever, whilst the double binding of the body adds a touch of class and luxury to the aesthetics. The amplified sound of the '62 Bound Telecaster is authentically vintage Fender. The Vintage-Style Telecaster single-coils deliver all of the spank, sparkle and twang that we associate with vintage Tele's, with a warmth and roundness from the neck pickup which works beautifully for lead and melodic lines. Rolling down the tone control in this position can even yield a jazzy tone. As with any Telecaster, the bridge pickup is the main event here. It produces a searing output which will easily cut through the mix to put your country, blues and even rock licks front and centre. A well regarded model in the Fender Japan line-up with the sounds and playability to back up its attractive looks.
