Here for sale we have a beautiful Fender Select Thinline Telecaster semi-hollow electric guitar in Violin Burst finish. Made in the USA in 2013, this guitar is part of Fender's Limited edition Select Series. They were designed to be the 'capstone' of Fender's production range, bridging the gap between the production models and the high end Custom Shop range. The series was introduced at the 2012 NAMM show, and marketed as 'Select Instruments for Select People' - clearly aimed at the discerning guitarist with a taste for premium instruments. Of course, a bolt-on construction is employed, and comprises an Ash body with Flamed Maple top, Birdseye Maple neck and 22 fret Birdseye Maple fingerboard. The finish has been hand stained and finished with a Gloss-Lacquer top coat, whilst the neck has been finished in nitrocellulose. Gold hardware is fitted including a 6-saddle american string-through-body bridge with Stamped Brass plate and bent steel saddles and a set of Fender Deluxe sealed tuning machines with Pearl buttons. The pickups have been upgraded by a previous owner to a set of Fender Custom Shop Twisted Tele single-coils, which are wired to a 'Bucky's Custom Shop' 5-way wiring kit, adding two extra pickup configurations to the traditional Telecaster 3-way. Master volume & tone controls are also included. The Birdseye Maple neck plays beautifully. Fender's very popular Modern 'C' profile fills the hand nicely for a smooth and responsive playing experience across the register. Whilst not a thin neck, the profile remains slim enough for fast articulate playing. The satin nitrocellulose finish to the rear of the neck assists with smooth navigation of the 25.5" scale, with the gently sculpted neck heel enhancing access to the upper frets. The Medium Jumbo frets provide a rock-solid playing surface which is perfect for string bending and vibrato techniques. This is paired with a compound fingerboard radius which transitions smoothly from 9.5" in the lower register to 14" as you climb the neck. This ensures that the playing experience is tailored to the needs of the player in all registers. Needless to say, the Birdseye Maple of the neck and fingerboard adds a real sense of luxury to an already opulent instrument. Amplified, the pair of Twisted Tele single-coils deliver hot, high output Telecaster tone in spades, with just a hint of sparkling Stratocaster character to the top end. The neck pickup features a taller bobbin to accommodate more windings for a higher output, resulting in a pickup that is lovely and warm and can drive the front end of an amp with ease. The bridge pickup features staggered polepieces for a balanced output, as well as enamel-coated magnet wire for vintage-style tones. The 'Bucky's Custom Shop' wiring kit adds two extra sounds to your arsenal, with out of phase 'quack' available in position 4, and the neck pickup run through a capacitor in position 5. This produces a tone with slightly less low-end grunt, but enhanced brightness and shimmer in the mid and treble response. An absolutely stunning instrument with the playability and sonic versatility to match its striking aesthetics. Luthier Report Our ID: 122042594910 Weight: 6.45lbs Serial: US13034101 Aesthetic Condition: Headstock: Overall excellent condition. A very light indentation to the top rear edge does not pierce the finish. Any other markings to the headstock are difficult to discern. Neck: Overall excellent condition. A very small chip in the lacquer is present at the bass side edge of the fingerboard extension, beyond the 22nd fret. This exposes the wood beneath. Any other markings to the neck and fingerboard are difficult to discern. Body: Overall excellent condition. Very light delamination of the lacquer finish can be seen at the top edge of the neck pocket. This is stable and should not worsen with regular use. Very light scratching to all aspects of the body is visible under direct light and close scrutiny, as is common with high gloss finishes. This is most notable at the treble side waist, front face near the pickup selector. Condition of Frets: The frets demonstrate light signs of use, not affecting playability. There is considerable material remaining for any future fret work the new owner may wish to perform. Current Set Up: Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool (1​/​8" hex) not included. Hardware: Excellent condition with light signs of use. The Gold plated hardware shows light tarnishing, most notably to the control knobs, neck pickup cover and neck plate to the rear. A previous owner has filed light grooves into the saddles to guide the strings. This has resulted in a small amount of the gold plating flaking away from the saddle, most notably at the 1st E. Structural: No concerns or issues to note. Height of the string from the 12th Fret-1.5mm - Bass 2mm Please be aware that the action on a guitar may move slightly in transit and this measurement is the current height. Strings on Guitar - 10-46 Electrics: Fully functional. The pickups have been replaced with Fender Custom Shop Twisted Tele single-coils, and the switch​/​wiring harness has been replaced with a ‘Bucky’s Custom Shop’ 5-way wiring kit. No original parts are included. Case & Accessories: Original Fender Select Tweed hard case. Excellent condition with some very light markings to the exterior tweed. Fender Tweed strap with Gold strap locks, Fender instrument cable, additional Fender strap, Fender & Jim Dunlop polishing cloths, swing tags, owner​/​warranty registration documents and extra Gold string trees included in the case. Truss rod tool not included.
