Here for sale we have a Fender Stratacoustic in Black finish. Made in China in 2000, this guitar was part of the relatively short run of Stratacoustic and Telecoustic guitars that were available between 2000 and 2005. These instruments were aimed at electric players who were looking to get into acoustics, and with Fishman electronics on board, they were great on stage for an acoustic section of the set. A bolt-on construction is employed, and features a Laminated Spruce top, one-piece Fiberglass back and sides, Maple neck and Rosewood fingerboard with matching bridge. Chrome sealed tuning machines are fitted, along with a Fishman undersaddle piezo pickup, which is wired to a Fishman Classic 4 on-board preamp with slider controls for master volume and 4-band EQ. The Maple neck plays very well, with the 'C' shape profile feeling nice and maneuverable in the hand, being much more akin to an electric guitar neck than an acoustic. Certainly, the neck seems to have been taken from Fender's electric guitar production line and bolted to the acoustic body, making an instrument that offers the playability of an electric guitar in an acoustic-style package. The Rosewood of the fingerboard is pleasant under the fingers, and with its 12" radius is much flatter than Fender's typical 9.5" radius, making it practical for a wide range of styles and techniques including fingerstyle playing and string bending. The familiar lines of the Stratocaster body are echoed here, and feel great in the arms, being slimmer and smaller than most acoustic guitars. The acoustic voice of the Stratacoustic is bright and clear, offering a fast attack and snappy response to the player's touch. Whilst clearly the compact design of the body cannot produce as much volume or resonance as a traditional acoustic guitar, the 'main event' of this instrument is the on-board electronics. The piezo produces a very convincing acoustic sound, and with the on-board 4-band EQ, you can sculpt the tone to fit into any musical setting. Using the instrument through pedals or other effect processing is also possible, meaning that you can achieve a wide range of sounds without changing instruments. All aspects of the headstock demonstrate very light scratching visible only under direct lighting at certain angles. The sides of the headstock demonstrate some staining where the guitar would make contact with a stand or hanger. Light discoloration of the entire headstock is apparent under close scrutiny. Neck: Overall good condition. The finish has worn through to bare wood in a few spots along the neck, most notable on the bass side through frets 9 to 15, and at the treble side by the heel. The fingerboard demonstrates light indentation in the early register consistent with regular use that cannot be felt under the string when playing. The rear of the neck demonstrates light scratching throughout which cannot be felt under the thumb. Body: Overall good condition. A notable chip is apparent to the bottom edge of the front face, revealing the wood beneath. The front face demonstrates consistent light scratching across the surface, which causes a hazing effect to the treble and bass sides of the soundhole. Light indentation is also apparent under direct lighting at certain angles, not piercing the finish. The plastic aspect of the body has discolored with age. Condition of Frets: The frets demonstrate moderate signs of use. Indentation and flattening of the crowns is apparent in the early register. There is considerable material remaining for future fret work. Current Set Up: Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool (4mm hex) not included. Hardware: Fully functional with light signs of wear. The lettering on the battery cover has worn slightly but is still legible. Structural: No concerns or issues to note.
