Here for sale we have a very special Vintage Gibson Les Paul Custom ‘Black Beauty’ in Ebony finish. Made in the USA in 1976, this guitar carries all of the key indications of being an authentic '76 Les Paul Custom. This includes the 00 numbers at the start of the serial number, original Gibson Gold tuning machines, fret 'nibs', original Nashville T-O-M bridge and even original pots carrying the CTS pot code for the 10th week of 1976. Naturally, a set-neck construction is employed, and comprises a solid Mahogany body with carved Maple top, Maple neck and 22 Medium Jumbo fret Ebony fingerboard. The body is double bound with multi-strip purfling to the top and back, as well as neck and headstock binding. The headstock features the split diamond Mother-of Pearl inlay and purfling to match the body. Gold hardware is fitted including a Nashville T-O-M bridge and StopBar tailpiece, as well as a set of Gibson tuning machines with Keystone buttons. A trio of Gibson Pat No 2,737,842 humbucking pickups are installed, and are wired to a 3-Way Toggle Switch, Neck Volume, Neck Tone, Bridge/Middle Volume and a Bridge/Middle Tone. The Maple neck plays fantastically well, with a profile which might be described as a Medium 'C' shape. This fills the hand nicely for a reliable yet articulate grip across the register. The profile is unmistakably 'Les Paul', lending itself very well to rock and blues licks just as well as it does chunky riffs and rhythm playing. The Ebony fingerboard has a tight grain and dark appearance, and in conjunction with the Mother of Pearl inlays and overall look of the instrument ensures a luxurious playing experience. The familiar lines of the Les Paul body are as comfortable in the arms as ever, whilst the reassuring weight of this guitar at 10.8lbs provides an authentically vintage feel. Amplified, the trio of Gibson Pat No 2,737,842 humbuckers provide a fantastically thick and full tone right out of the gate. The neck is warm and round, with huge solo tones and smooth, buttery distortion on offer. The middle humbucker is thick and creamy, saturating beautifully into full-bodied distortion as you crank the gain whilst turning the volume and tone controls provides a crisp, crystalline clean tone. The humbucker in the bridge position offers full-bodied yet cutting rock rhythm tones that will catapult you to the front of any mix with ease. The Les Paul Custom has been the dream guitar for many people, and for 49 years this guitar has, and continues to live up to that standard. This is your opportunity to own a genuine piece of Gibson’s history, with an instrument that tells its own story and provides an inimitable character and inspiring vintage vibe. Verification report

Luthier Report Our ID: 1190625110050 Weight: 10.8lbs Serial Number: 00120578 Aesthetic Condition: Body - Overall very good condition, both top corners demonstrate very light chipping of the finish which reveals the wood beneath. All aspects of the headstock demonstrate light scratching and indentation in line with an instrument of this age. Neck - Overall very good condition, some finish cracking is apparent between the binding and the neck which we have tested and is not structural, nor is it indicative of a repair and is simply a result of the difference in expansion/contraction rates between the two materials. The fingerboard demonstrates some light indentation consistent with regular playwear in the early register. The rear of the neck demonstrates very light indentation throughout the register which cannot be felt under the thumb in playing position. Body - Overall very good condition, all aspects of the body demonstrate light scratching and indentation consistently across the register. This is most notable to the rear face where mild buckle rash causes a hazing finish when viewed under direct lighting at certain angles. All markings are in line for an instrument of this age and we advise carefully studying the photographs for the most accurate representation of the body. Condition of Frets: The frets demonstrate moderate signs of use, with flattening of the crowns and light indentation apparent throughout the register. This is typical for Gibsons of this era. There is a small amount of material remaining for future fret work, however is very playable in its current condition and should not require fret work for years to come depending on the player. Current Set Up: Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool (5/16" socket) not included. Hardware: Fully functional with light signs of wear. Structural: No concerns or issues to note. Strings on Guitar - 10-46 Height of string from 12th Fret- Treble 1.25mm - Bass 1.75mm Please be aware that the action on a guitar may move slightly in transit and this measurement is the current height. Electrics: Fully functional. Case & Accessories: Gibson "Chainsaw" original hard case The case demonstrates moderate signs of use, with some peeling of the interior felt. This however does not affect the functionality.
