Gibson Les Paul Custom Plus Heritage Cherry Sunburst 1996

This guitar is a commission sale - if you have a high end guitar you are interested in selling, please contact us via our easy to find website - search: Sell Us Your Guitar. Here for sale we have a very special Gibson Les Paul Custom Plus in Heritage Cherry Sunburst finish. Made in the USA in 1996, after a period of quality control issues under Norlin ownership (1969-1986), Gibson returned to private ownership, and many believe that the guitars produced in the late 1980s and 1990s (sometimes referred to as the "good wood" era) were of high quality, with premium wood choices and traditional designs. Naturally, a set-neck construction is employed, and comprises a solid Mahogany body with a Carved Figured Maple top, Mahogany neck and 22 fret Ebony fingerboard. The body is double bound with multi-strip purfling to the top and back, as well as neck and headstock binding. The headstock features the split diamond Mother-of Pearl inlay and purfling to match the body. Gold hardware is fitted including a T-O-M bridge and StopBar tailpiece, as well as a set of Grover tuning machines with Keystone buttons. The pickups featured consist of a Gibson 498T humbucker in the bridge and a 490R humbucker in the neck, these are wired to the standard Les Paul controls with a 3-way pickup selector and individual volume and tone controls of each pickup. The Mahogany neck plays fantastically well, with a profile which might be described as a moderately-sized 'C' shape. This fills the hand nicely for a substantial yet articulate grip across the register. The profile is unmistakably 'Les Paul', lending itself very well to rock and blues licks just as well as it does chunky riffs and rhythm playing. The Ebony fingerboard has a tight grain and dark appearance, and in conjunction with the Mother of Pearl inlays and overall look of the instrument ensures a luxurious playing experience. The familiar lines of the Les Paul body are as comfortable in the arms as ever, whilst the reassuring weight of this guitar at 10.00lbs provides an authentically vintage feel. The pair of Gibson humbuckers installed in this guitar offer warm and rich tones, exactly as you would expect from a Les Paul. The 490R in the neck is thick and creamy, saturating beautifully into full-bodied distortion as you crank the gain; perfect for lead lines and solos. The 498T in the bridge position is as bright and biting as you could ever need, helping you to cut through any mix with your rock rhythm tones. The traditional Les Paul control layout keeps things feeling simple, with easy and intuitive tonal shaping that feels nicely responsive to small changes, allowing you to tweak your tone right on the guitar.
