Gibson Midtown Standard Ebony 2015 Semi-Hollow Electric

Here for sale we have a Gibson Midtown Standard in Ebony finish. Made in the USA in 2015, the Midtown was first introduced in 2011 with a design derived from the ever-popular ES-335. Smaller than a 335, the Midtown features a heavily chambered Mahogany body and a flat Maple top with F holes. Thanks to its flat top and back, as well as the control cavity to the rear, producing the Midtown was much less costly than the ES models, meaning Gibson could offer the model at a considerably lower price. The Midtown was discontinued in 2016 in order for Gibson to focus on its core models. This instrument features a set-neck construction comprising a Chambered Mahogany body with Maple top, Mahogany neck and 22 fret Rosewood fingerboard. Chrome hardware is fitted including a Nashville T-O-M bridge and StopBar tailpiece, as well as a set of Kluson-style tuning machines with 'Tulip' buttons. A pair of Gibson humbucking pickups are installed, with a Burstbucker I in the neck and Burstbucker II in the bridge. These are wired to a 3-way toggle switch and independent volume and tone controls. The Mahogany neck plays very well, with Gibson's SlimTaper profile providing a smooth and responsive playing experience across the register. The profile could perhaps be described as a moderately-sized 'D' shape, which with a slightly flattened area to the centre rear is practical for a wide range of playing styles and techniques. The Rosewood of the fingerboard is paired with Pearloid inlays and binding to add a real sense of luxury to the instrument. The traditional 12" radius is as practical as ever, striking a fine balance between comfort when chord playing and functionality for lead lines and string bends. The pair of Gibson Burstbucker Pro humbuckers installed in this guitar deliver warm and rich tones, exactly as you would expect from a Gibson. The neck position is thick and creamy, saturating beautifully into full-bodied distortion as you crank the gain. The bridge position is as bright and biting as you could ever need, helping you to cut through any mix with your rock rhythm tones. The semi-hollow construction helps with dynamic response whilst providing a lively and resonant feel in the arms. Clean tones are warm and clear without being too soft, and even dark jazzy tones can be achieved by rolling down the tone control. Just as when it was released, the Midtown Standard is a full-fat Gibson at a much more reasonable price. Luthier Report Our ID: 129042596921 Weight: 7.4lbs Serial: 150082044 Aesthetic Condition: Headstock: Overall very good condition. A very light indentation which does not pierce the finish is present to the bass side top corner of the rear face, consistent with the use of a clip-on tuner. Very light scratching to all aspects of the headstock is visible under direct light, as is common with high gloss finishes. Neck: Overall very good condition. Very light scratching to the rear of the neck is visible under direct light, as is common with high gloss finishes. Any markings to the fingerboard are difficult to discern. Body: Overall good condition. Moderate nitrocellulose ‘burn’ marks are present to the lower bout edge around the strap button. Milder burn marks are present around the upper strap button on the bass side horn. This is due to a strap reacting with the nitrocellulose finish whilst in storage. A much lighter burn mark is present to the centre of the rear face, consistent with the use of a stand. Mild to moderate discoloration of the bass side binding is most notable at the waist, but continues around to the bass side cutaway. Light to mild scratching to all aspects of the body is visible under direct light, as is common with high gloss finishes. This is most notable to the treble side waist of the front face and to the rear face consistent with playwear. Condition of Frets: The frets demonstrate light signs of use, not affecting playability. Very light flattening of the frets is apparent in the early register. There is considerable material remaining for any future fret work the new owner may wish to perform. Current Set Up: Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool (5/16" socket) included. Hardware: Overall excellent condition. The original G-Force tuning system has been replaced with a set of Kluson style tuning machines by a previous owner. The original tuners are not included. The neck tone knob shows a very light crack but remains stable. Structural: No concerns or issues to note. Height of the string from the 12th Fret-1.5mm - Bass 2mm Please be aware that the action on a guitar may move slightly in transit and this measurement is the current height. Strings on Guitar - 10-46 Electrics: Fully functional. Case & Accessories: Original Gibson hard case. Very good condition with light signs of wear, most notably light oxidation of the latches. Gibson QC checklist, owner’s manual, warranty card & truss rod tool included in the case.
