Gibson SG Standard 120 Heritage Cherry 2014 Electric Guitar

This guitar is a commission sale - if you have a high end guitar you are interested in selling, please contact us via our easy to find website - search: Sell Us Your Guitar. Here for sale we have a Gibson SG Standard 120 in Heritage Cherry finish. Made in the USA in 2014, this guitar was part of a limited run in celebration of Gibson's 120th anniversary, and features a special '120th Anniversary' 12th fret inlay. A set-neck construction is employed, and comprises a Mahogany body, Mahogany neck and 22 fret Rosewood fingerboard. Chrome hardware is fitted including a T-O-M bridge and Stopbar tailpiece and Grover Rotomatic tuning machines. A bone nut has been fitted by a previous owner. A pair of Gibson 57 Classic humbucking pickups are installed, these are wired to a 3-way toggle switch and independent volume and tone controls, with push/pull coil split functions on each of the volume knobs. The Mahogany neck plays fantastically, with the Rounded '50s profile feeling nicely slender in the hand and offering a smooth and responsive playing experience across the register. the profile could perhaps be described as a 'D' shape, with a slightly flattened area to the centre rear which encourages ergonomic thumb positioning in all registers and ensures easy reach across the fingerboard. There is no question that the top frets are much more easily accessible than on a Les Paul, with the slim neck heel and double-cutaway design opening up the full register of the instrument. Traditional 12" fingerboard radius is paired with medium jumbo frets to provide a playing surface which is comfortable and practical for a wide range of styles and techniques. The pair of Gibson 57 Classic humbuckers installed in this guitar are well regarded by Gibson players for their versatility. Whilst the hard rock tones you would expect from an SG are clearly present, the pickups also offer a nice smooth and rounded tone that is suitable for a wide range of styles. Country and Blues players will like the bite of bridge pickup, whilst the warmth of the neck position can be appropriate for jazzy sounds, especially when rolling down the tone control. Independent volume and tone pots offer comprehensive control of your sound, and along with independent coil splits this is a real workhorse instrument that matches the versatility of the musician. Luthier Report Our ID: 109032584620 Weight: 6.8lbs Serial: 140051646 Aesthetic Condition: Headstock: Overall very good condition. Mild to moderate chipping to all aspects of the headstock reveal the wood in places. This is most notable at the treble side top corner. Another notable chip is present on the treble side edge near the 1st E tuner, having chipped both the front face and side. A less notable chip is present at the bass side top corner of the front face. Mild scratching of the front face is visible under direct light, as is common with high gloss finishes. Neck: Overall very good condition. A moderate chip is present at the bass side edge of the neck beside the 5th fret. This has exposed the wood, and can be felt under the thumb in the playing position. It does not detract from the overall playability of the instrument. Various light indentations to the rear of the neck can be seen across the register under direct light. They are only very lightly felt under the thumb in the playing position. Any markings to the fingerboard are difficult to discern. Body: Overall very good condition. A lacquer crack is present at the bass side of the neck pocket. This has been professionally tested in-house, and presents no structural concerns. Exposed screw holes are present where the pickguard would have been fitted, and an outline ‘shadow’ of the pickguard can be seen under close scrutiny. Light to mild indentation is consistent across all aspects of the body. This is most notable at either side of the front face lower bout where the wood has been lightly exposed. Light to mild scratching is apparent to all aspects of the body, most notably to the rear face and across the waist of the front face, consistent with playwear. Condition of Frets: The frets show light signs of use, not affecting playability. Light denting and flattening of the frets noticeable in the early register. There is considerable material remaining for any fret work the new owner may wish to perform. Current Set Up: Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool (5/16" socket) not included. Hardware: Fully functional. Several modifications have been made, including replacement of the tuning machines with Grovers, replacement of the nut with a bone one, replacement of the truss rod cover, replacement of the pickup rings, removal of the scratch plate, addition of knob pointers & the fitting of straplocks. No original parts are included. Structural: No concerns or issues to note. Height of the string from the 12th Fret-1.5mm - Bass 2mm Please be aware that the action on a guitar may move slightly in transit and this measurement is the current height. Strings on Guitar - 10-46 Electrics: Fully functional. Case & Accessories: Original Gibson USA hard case. Fully functional with mild signs of wear. The exterior is slightly discolored. An 'Axe Shield' guitar cover has been installed in the interior. Owner’s manual, QC checklist, Gibson cleaning cloth and leather strap with strap locks included in the case.
