Gibson Tony Iommi SG Special Vintage Cherry 2021 Signature

This guitar is a commission sale - if you have a high end guitar you are interested in selling, please contact us. Here for sale we have a Gibson Tony Iommi SG Special in Vintage Cherry finish. Made in the USA in 2021, this guitar is a recreation of the 1965 SG special that Tony used during the early years of Black Sabbath, after he acquired it in a trade with a right handed musician who had been playing a left handed one. That guitar appeared on Paranoid, Master of Reality & Vol, 4. Naturally, a set-neck construction is employed, and comprises a Mahogany body, Mahogany neck and 22 fret Indian Rosewood fingerboard. Chrome hardware is fitted, including an adjustable wrap-around bridge and Grover Rotomatic tuning machines. A pair of Gibson P-90 pickups are installed, and are wired to a 3-way toggle switch and independent volume and tone controls. The Mahogany neck plays well, with the 'Rounded' profile offering a very comfortable and smooth playing experience across the register. The 1.695" nut width offers easy reach of all the strings without being too large or cumbersome in the hand, allowing for fast and articulate playing with ease. The traditional 12" fingerboard radius is practical for a wide range of styles and techniques, whilst the medium jumbo frets provide a rock-solid playing surface and enhanced string bending and vibrato feel. The pair of Gibson P-90 pickups installed in this guitar deliver thick and full-bodied tones, well suited to the heavy metal riffing that Iommi is famous for. The neck position is round and warm and delivers a powerful output for pushing your lead lines and solos to the front of the mix. This is complemented well by the brightness of the bridge pickup, which saturates into a heavy distortion tone as you drive the amp, perfect for thick and heavy tones. The independent controls offer comprehensive control of your sound, responding well to small changes. A fantastic signature model which is versatile enough for a wide range of players. Luthier Report Our ID: 126032588630 Weight: 7.05lbs Serial: 22310298 Aesthetic Condition: Headstock: Overall good condition. The headstock has a previous repair which is visible from all faces. This is very stable and has been tested under pressure, with some finish repair performed previously to an acceptable standard. The repair itself is professional and presents no structural concern. The front face demonstrates light scratching visible only under direct lighting at certain angles, most notably near the repair where light sanding marks are present. The top edge demonstrates some chipping and indentations revealing the colour coat beneath. Neck: Overall very good condition. The rear of the neck demonstrates very light scratching throughout the register which is visible under direct light. This is most notable in the early register but does not impact the overall playability of the instrument. The fingerboard edges and binding demonstrate some very light tooling marks from the factory which cannot be felt under the finger. Body: Overall very good condition. Several moderate indentations chip and pierce the finish of the front face beneath and surrounding the bridge. Some of these are hidden by the bridge, but are visible under close scrutiny. The rear face shows a small patch of ‘nitro burn’, likely where the instrument has made contact with a hanger. Light scratching to all aspects of the body is visible under direct light, as is common with high gloss finishes. The pickguard shows milder scratching consistent with playwear. Condition of Frets: The frets demonstrate minimal signs of use, not affecting playability. There is considerable material remaining for any future fret work the new owner may wish to perform. Current Set Up: Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool (5/16" socket) not included. Hardware: Fully functional with light signs of wear. Structural: No concerns or issues to note. Height of the string from the 12th Fret-1.5mm - Bass 2mm Please be aware that the action on a guitar may move slightly in transit and this measurement is the current height. Strings on Guitar - 10-46 There is only a small amount of room in the bridge for adjustments to the action on the bass side. There is no room remaining in the bridge for reductions to the action on the treble side. Electrics: Fully functional. Case & Accessories: Gibson hard case The case demonstrates light signs of use. Gibson owner’s manual, QC checklist, warranty card, ‘baby photo’ & Gibson branded cleaning cloth included. Truss rod tool not included.
