Gretsch G6122-1959 Chet Atkins ”1959 Nashville Classic”

Here for sale we have a Gretsch G6122-1959 Chet Atkins ”1959 Nashville Classic” Country Gentleman in a stunning Walnut finish. Built in Japan in 2006, this guitar features a Laminated Flamed Maple top, back and sides along with a Maple neck and a 22 Medium Jumbo fret Ebony fingerboard. The Gold hardware featured consists of a Bigsby vibrato tailpiece, a ‘Rocking Bar’ bridge and a set of Grover Imperial tuning machines. The pickups featured are a pair of TV Jones pickups with a Classic Plus in the bridge and a Super-Tron Classic in the neck position, these are wired to a 3-way selector, master volume, master tone and a bridge volume control. The Maple neck sits comfortably in hand, with the Standard ‘U’ profile feeling slim and quick, providing a comfortable and ergonomic playing surface, as well as comfortable thumb positioning in any register. The Gloss finish to the rear of the neck provides effortless navigation up and down the neck, whilst the 12" radius Ebony fingerboard provides a nicely flat and consistent playing experience right the way up the register. The single cutaway body design provides great access to the higher frets, great for those fast lead lines, whilst the thinner, 2.25″ body thickness provides comfort in both standing and seated playing positions, making longer durations of play a breeze. The hollow construction provides a responsive and resonant tone, with the ‘Trestle’ bracing which is specifically voiced to provide full hollow body tones from the thinner, 2.25″ body. This construction improves tone by increasing sustain and decreasing feedback, this provides a unpronounced yet well defined low end that is complimented by a warm midrange and detailed high frequencies. The pair of TV Jones pickups provide a thick, warm voicing, with a distinct top-end that is articulate and well-defined. The simplistic control layout keeps things light and breezy, with easy and intuitive tonal shaping that feels nicely responsive to small changes, allowing you to tweak your tone right on the guitar. Luthier Report Our ID: 1060725114700 Weight: 8.8lbs Serial Number: JT006042199 Aesthetic Condition: Overall very good condition. The top edge of the headstock demonstrates several mild indentations causing some delamination of the finish, along with this another indentation can be seen to the bass side edge near the low E tuning machine again causing light delamination. The badge on the front face displays light tarnishing of the finish. Consistent circular scratching is apparent to the front face, visible under direct lighting at certain angles. Overall very good condition, the rear of the neck has a patch of consistent light indentations behind the 8th fret, which causes a slightly rough texture in playing position. Further light indentation is apparent throughout the register. The binding has shrunk away from the fret ends slightly, giving them the appearance of being slightly lifted, however the frets remain firmly seated. Overall very good condition, the front face demonstrates consistent light scratching, most apparent between the pickups and surrounding the toggle switch. The sides demonstrate mild to moderate indentation piercing the finish and mild to moderate scratching, this is most apparent to the treble side lower bout. The rear face demonstrates light scratching visible only under direct lighting at certain angles. Condition of Frets: The frets demonstrate moderate signs of use, with light indentation to the early frets and flattening of the crowns throughout the register. This does not affect playability. There is considerable material remaining for future fret work. Current Set Up: Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool (7mm socket) not included. Hardware: Fully functional with moderate signs of wear, most notably the gold plating has worn away on the trem arm and tremolo system. Structural: No concerns or issues to note.
