Here for sale we have a Gretsch G9240 Alligator Round-Neck Resonator Electro Acoustic Guitar. Made in China in 2014, this set-neck constructed guitar consists of a Laminated Mahogany body, a Gretsch "Ampli-Sonic" resonator cone, a Mahogany neck, and a 19-fret Padauk fingerboard. Other appointments include Grover Sta-Tite Die-Cast tuners, Medium Jumbo frets, and an aftermarket Yamaha Super Fighter Humbucker that is wired to a master volume control. The neck has a medium “V” profile that is very playable in its gloss finish, allowing the hand to move fluidly around the fingerboard. The neck meets the body at the 12th fret and the medium jumbo fret wire feels rock solid. The body is rather heavy, as you would expect from a resonator, but provides a very lively and responsive playing experience. The tone of this guitar is very punchy and focused, with great projection and a solid midrange that will cut through easily in a mix. It responds well to touch dynamics and articulates well, offering a rootsy tone that would be a fine addition to any guitarist’s arsenal. The addition of the renowned Yamaha Super Fighter humbucker gives this guitar a whole new side to explore. Moderate chipping and indentation is present to the top edge of the headstock, this has exposed the wood beneath the finish. A chip to the finish is present to the top of the front face, this has also exposed the wood beneath. Neck: Overall very good condition. Mild indentations are present to the treble side read of the neck, these have slightly pierced the finish and can be felt under the fingers. Light scratching which has marked the finish can be seen to the treble side rear of the neck close to the body. Any markings to the fingerboard are difficult to discern. Body: Overall good condition. Light to mild indentation is present to the all aspects of the body, this is most prominent to the bass side lower bout where it has exposed the wood beneath. Mild scratching of the finish is present around the control knob. Parts of the satin finish have polished to a gloss appearance due to regular past use, this is common with satin finishes. A previous owner has cut a hole to the front face to installed the pickup. Condition of Frets: The frets demonstrate moderate signs of use, not affecting playability. Denting and flattening of the frets is apparent to the early register. There is moderate material remaining for any fret work the new owner may wish to perform. Current Set Up: Truss Rod: Fully functional. Hardware: Overall good condition. The cone plate demonstrates moderate marking which in some areas has removed the finish. Structural: No concerns or issues to note. Height of the string from the 12th Fret-1.25mm - Bass 1.5mm Please be aware that the action on a guitar may move slightly in transit and this measurement is the current height. Strings on Guitar - 11-52 This guitar demonstrates moderate fret noise which is apparent when amplified. This noise does not affect sustain of notes, nor does it affect bending the notes. The new owner may choose to raise the action to alleviate this. Electrics: Fully functional. A previous owner has installed a pickup to the front face of the body, with this a input jack and volume control have been fitted to the treble side lower bout.
