Here for sale we have an incredibly striking Ibanez RG760 electric guitar. This heavily modified instrument began life in 1989 as an RG760 in Jewel Blue. The RG760 was initially introduced as part of the Roadstar II series, the predecessor to the RG series. This instrument originally featured an HSS pickup configuration, which is rather rare for an RG series guitar. Of course, a bolt-on construction is employed and comprises a Basswood body, Maple neck and 24 fret bound Rosewood fingerboard. The body has been extensively modified, with the neck and middle pickup cavities having been filled and the entire body refinished in pink. The bridge has been replaced for a Wilkinson 'm' Series WODL1 Floyd Rose-style double locking tremolo system, which in black matches the original Gotoh sealed tuning machines. A single EMG 89 active humbucking pickup has been installed in the bridge position, and is wired to a master volume control with a push/pull coil split. The Maple neck plays fantastically well. It's easy to see why the Wizard profile caught on so quickly; the super slim profile, which could perhaps be described as a 'D' shape encourages ergonomic thumb positioning in all registers and facilitates super-fast playing in a way that had not been seen before it was introduced. The sculpted neck heel and generous cutaways ensure that access to the top frets is completely unrestricted, whilst the 17" fingerboard radius provides a super flat and consistent playing surface right the way up the register. Paired with Jumbo frets, the playing experience is razor-sharp and precise in any fingerboard position. The EMG 89 active humbucking pickup installed in the bridge position of this instrument delivers seriously powerful tones that are sure to match the loud-looks of the colour. In humbucking mode the pickup can drive your amp into a saturated, searing distortion which with the typical brightness we expect from a bridge pickup will easily cut through even the densest of mixes. The addition of a coil split allows you to thin down and clean up your sound for the quieter sections of the set, or perhaps could be used to subtly reduce the power of your sound for a verse section. An instrument with pedigree from the very beginning of Ibanez' RG series, modified to ensure that it easily stands out from the crowd. Luthier Report Our ID: 105032583513 Weight: 7.7lbs Serial: 893475 Aesthetic Condition: Headstock: Overall very good condition. The rear of the headstock demonstrates several moderate indentations which chip and crack the finish along the bass side edge. The top edge demonstrates light indentations which do not pierce the finish. The front face demonstrates consistent light scratching visible only under direct lighting at certain angles. Neck: Overall very good condition. Behind the nut where the locking nut bolts are there is a small superficial crack. This is common with this style of nut and does not impact structural stability. The rear of the neck demonstrates light indentation and moderate scratching throughout the register, most notably behind the 2nd fret and in the upper register. Any markings to the fingerboard are difficult to discern. Body: Overall very good condition. This body has been heavily modified with both single coil pickup routing being filled and the guitar being refinished. The work has been performed to an excellent standard, however at certain angles the outline of the original routing is visible. Moderate indentation and chipping of the finish is apparent to the rear bass side edge which exposes the wood. Further light indentation and small chips are apparent around the perimeter of the body. The front face demonstrates a small chip towards the treble side waist. At the treble side of the neck pocket two small chips in the finish are present, exposing the under coat. A small scuff mark is present near the tremolo spring cavity. Light scratching to all aspects of the body is visible under direct light. Condition of Frets: The frets demonstrate light signs of use, however the frets are not full height, indicating a previous level and recrown. There is moderate material remaining for any future fret work the new owner may wish to perform. Current Set Up: Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool (5/16" socket) included. Hardware: Fully functional with light signs of wear. The bridge has been replaced with a Wilkinson m Series WODL1 floating trem. The original bridge is not included. Structural: The neck has pulled forward over the years, as is typical with these extremely thin necks. The setup has been adjusted to accommodate for this and the guitar plays well throughout the register. Height of the string from the 12th Fret-1.5mm - Bass 2mm Please be aware that the action on a guitar may move slightly in transit and this measurement is the current height. Strings on Guitar - 9-42 Electrics: The bridge pickup has been replaced for an EMG. The original humbucker is included. Case & Accessories: Ibanez hard case The case demonstrates moderate signs of use, remaining functional. The check strap which holds the case open has detached, meaning the case opens fully. Tremolo arm and truss rod tool included.
