Jackson Custom Shop San Dimas Strat Black Cherry 1987

Here for sale we have a Jackson Custom Shop San Dimas Strat in Black Cherry finish. Built in the USA in 1987 during Jackson's heyday in San Dimas as an independent manufacturer of American made instruments. This instrument features a bolt-on construction comprising a Maple body, Hard Rock Maple neck and 22 Jumbo fret Rosewood fingerboard. The hardware is black, and includes a Kahler 2300 series tremolo bridge, locking nut and a set of Jackson tuning machines. The pickups are a trio of Jackson USA J-100 single-coils, and are wired to a master volume, treble cut, bass cut, blower switch, kill-switch and individual pickup on/off switches. The Maple neck plays exceptionally well, with a flat profile reminiscent of the more modern ‘Speed neck’ that feels fluid in the hand and lends itself well to more technical styles of playing. Paired with the 17" fingerboard radius and Jumbo frets, the neck feels razor sharp and articulate in all registers, making fretting a fast and easy affair whilst the Satin finish feels pleasant to the touch and aids in smooth movements up and down the neck. The familiar Strat Body design feels great in the arms, with generous body contouring ensuring comfort in both standing and seated positions, as well as ample fret access in the upper register. Amplified, the trio of USA made Jackson J-100 single-coil pickups deliver a wide range of tones, versatile enough for many genres. There is plenty of brightness in the neck pickup, with crisp open tones available with clean settings. The middle pickup is open and clear, being perfectly suited to bright funky rhythm tones with plenty of dynamic range. With the gain cranked, the bridge pickup offers a rich harmonic palette with full yet precise lows and excellent responsiveness in the upper mid and high end. The control layout on this guitar offers the opportunity to combine the pickups in any configuration thanks to the individual pickups switches, the blower switch when turned on bypasses all of the eq controls whilst offering an additional brightness and boost in volume, providing the player with an extra push when needed. Verification report

Luthier Report Our ID: 1150723014451 Weight: 9lbs Serial Number: 1945 Aesthetic Condition: Overall very good condition, the front face demonstrates light yet consistent scratching which does not pierce the finish. This causes a slight hazing of the finish under direct lighting at certain angles. Some discoloration is apparent to both points where the headstock would make contact with a hanger that we have been unable to remove through regular cleaning. Overall very good condition, the rear of the neck demonstrates light discoloration throughout consistent with regular use. The rear demonstrates a "sanded" texture, a result of the incredibly thin satin finish. The fingerboard demonstrates light scratching and some string indentations throughout the register which cannot be felt under the string. The end of the fingerboard demonstrates some light pickwear, not affecting playability. Overall very good condition, both corners of the neck pocket demonstrate light finish cracking common with bolt on necks. This does not affect the structural stability of the instrument. All aspects of the body demonstrate light scratching, the most notable section to the rear consistent with buckle rash. The bottom edge demonstrates light indentation. Condition of Frets: The frets demonstrate moderate signs of use, with some light indentation in the early register and wear/flattening of the crowns throughout. This does not affect playability. There is considerable material remaining for future fret work. Current Set Up: Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool (5/16" socket) not included. Hardware: Fully functional with light signs of wear. Tremolo arm included. Structural: No concerns or issues to note. Strings on Guitar - 9-42 Height of string from 12th Fret- Treble 1.5mm - Bass 2mm Please be aware that the action on a guitar may move slightly in transit and this measurement is the current height. Electrics: The controls in this instrument have been replaced and modified, with Master Volume, Treble Cut, Bass Cut, Pickup on/off x3, Kill switch (arcade button) and Direct to Jack switch. The pickups are original. Case & Accessories: Jackson rectangular hard case The case demonstrates moderate signs of use remaining fully functional. Original hangtags and tremolo arm included.
