Here for sale we have an absolutely stunning Larrivee OM-10 Koa acoustic guitar in Gloss Natural finish. Larrivee guitars was founded in Toronto in 1967, beginning in Jean Larrivee's basement whilst he was a student of Edgar Moench Sr. Initially basing his designs on European classical guitars, he began developing his steel-stringed instruments in his first commercial space on the second floor of the Tarragon Theater from around 1970. Since then, Larrivee guitars have developed a reputation for incredible craftsmanship, beautiful tone and stunning aesthetics. Indeed, they are well known for their beautiful inlay work, which since '79 have been exclusively designed by Jean's wife Wendy. Made in Vancouver, Canada in 1995, this guitar features an all-solid construction comprising a Spruce top, Koa back and sides, Mahogany neck and 20 fret Ebony fingerboard, with matching bridge and headplate. The back is in two book-matched pieces, with the Koa displaying an absolutely stunning grain pattern throughout. The body is double bound, whilst the top features attractive abalone purfling and rosette. The fingerboard is inlaid with a 'Torch & Wing' design, whilst the headstock features an intricate 'Torch' inlay, all in Abalone. A set of Chrome Schaller tuning machines complete a beautifully crafted and luxuriously appointed instrument. The Mahogany neck plays fantastically well, with a profile which might be described as an even 'C' shape which offers smooth and comfortable playability across the register. The nut is fairly wide at 1.788", which offers ample string spacing for accurate fretting. A traditional 16" radius is featured on the Ebony fingerboard, which remains as practical and comfortable as ever; facilitating both chordal and melodic playing styles with ease. The 'Torch & Wing' inlay design on the fingerboard works together with the Ebony, binding and striking aesthetics of the Koa to produce a highly luxurious playing experience, which feels very inspiring in the hands. The acoustic voice of the OM-10 Koa is clear and punchy, with the combination of specially selected wood coming together to create a deep, rich and full-bodied tone that is highly responsive to your playing. The Sitka Spruce top and cross bracing ensure increased bass response projecting beautifully, delivering ample volume and dynamic range whilst retaining clarity throughout thanks to the modest size of the OM body. The Solid Koa back and sides provide a deep, rich and warm voicing with an accurate low end and smooth midrange. Playing gently produces warm, mellow sounds with the intimate tone needed for those quiet moments. Putting some snap and power behind your right hand rewards you with more power and brightness, making you easily heard within a dense mix. A beautifully crafted instrument with stunning appointments that complements a wide variety of playing styles. Luthier Report Our ID: 126012573995 Weight: 4.3lbs Serial: 10 16651 Aesthetic Condition: Headstock: Overall excellent condition, the top edge of the front face demonstrates light scratching which continues around to the top rear edge. This is only visible under direct lighting at certain angles. Neck: Overall excellent condition. The binding at the end of the fingerboard has shrunk slightly, and has been re-attached. This leaves a small gap in the binding at either side of the fingerboard. A small indentation to the rear of the neck has lightly cracked the finish at the bass side behind the 2nd fret. This is lightly felt under the thumb in the playing position but does not impact the overall playability of the instrument. Body: Overall very good condition. The front face demonstrates several light indentations to the lower bout visible only under direct lighting at certain angles. The treble side front edge demonstrates some mild finish cracking at the binding/purfling, most notable at the upper bout. All aspects of the body demonstrate very light scratching visible only under direct lighting at certain angles. Condition of Frets: The frets demonstrate moderate signs of use, with indentation and flattening of the crown in the early register quickly improving as you climb the register. This does not affect playability. There is moderate material remaining for future fret work. Current Set Up: Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool (3/16" 'J' style hex wrench) not included.
