Made in the USA in 1999, this guitar consists of a solid Sitka Sprue top, Laminated Rosewood back and sides, a Mahogany neck, and a 20-fret Rosewood fingerboard. Other appointments include Martin Die-Cast Sealed tuners, a Bone nut, a Bone saddle, and a Rosewood bridge. The Mahogany neck plays very well. The 'C' profile feels nicely slender in the hand without being too thin; striking a perfect balance between comfort for chord playing and practicality for fingerstyle techniques and complex parts. The 000 body design is supremely comfortable in the arms, meaning that long practice sessions on the sofa are just as fatigue-free as long gigs. The Rosewood fingerboard is pleasant under the fingers, providing a smooth and durable playing surface. The Martin 000-R has a beautifully warm and rich voice, with a pleasing mellowness to its sound due to its solid top and laminate back and sides construction. The 000 body size has long been renowned for its clear, open and uniform response across all 6 strings. The edges of the headstock display light indentations which do not break the finish, this is most apparent near the low E tuning machine. Light scratching is present to all aspects of the headstock with the most noticeable being seen to the front face. The satin finish has been polished to a gloss texture in areas, these are most apparent to both the bass and treble side edges consistent with regular use in high contact areas. Neck: Overall very good condition. Light scratching and indentation is present across the register to the rear of the neck, these can be seen under close scrutiny and can not be felt in the playing position. The satin finish to the rear of the neck has been polished to a gloss texture, this is common with regular past use on satin finishes. Any markings to the fingerboard are difficult to discern. Body: Overall very good condition. A light indentation which does not break the finish can be seen to the front face bass side lower bout. Light scratching is present to all aspects of the body with the most noticeable being seen to the front face treble side lower bout. The satin finish has been polished to a gloss texture in areas, these are most apparent to both the bass and treble side edges and front face bass side lower bout, consistent with regular use in high contact areas. Condition of Frets: The frets demonstrate notable signs of use, not affecting playability. Denting and flattening of the frets is apparent throughout the register. There is a small amount of material remaining for any fret work the new owner may wish to perform. Current Set Up: Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool (5mm hex) included.
