Here for sale we have a Maybach Jetwing M electric guitar in Aged Black Velvet finish. Maybach guitars are a family run business founded in 2008. Based in Germany, their production line guitars are made in the Czech Republic, with final check and set up taking place in Germany. They focus primarily on iconic designs from the '50s & '60s, with series such as the Lester (Les Paul style of course) and Capitol (based on an ES-335). The company has developed a reputation for their attention to detail as well as the use of high quality materials and vintage-style pickups, partnering with fellow vintage-focussed German company Amber Pickups. Made in the Czech Republic in 2024, this instrument features a set-neck construction comprising an Okoume body, Mahogany neck and 22 fret Rosewood fingerboard. Nickel hardware is fitted, including a T-O-M bridge and stopbar tailpiece, vintage-style Faber Deluxe tuning machines with 'Tulip' buttons and a Bone nut. A pair of Amber Pickups humbuckers are installed, with a Spirit of '59 in the neck and a Supernova in the bridge. These are wired to a 3-way toggle switch, independent volume controls and a master tone. The Mahogany neck plays very well, with the Big C profile filling the hand for a suitably vintage-inspired playing experience. Certainly on the thicker side, the neck inspires confidence when chord playing and riffing, whilst offering a firm grip for lead lines and solos. The smooth gloss finish to the rear of the neck is pleasant to the touch and enhances navigation of the 24.75" scale. The Rosewood of the fingerboard provides a tactile yet durable playing surface, with medium jumbo frets improving the feel of string bending and vibrato techniques. Amplified, the pair of Amber Pickups humbuckers deliver warm, thick and full-bodied vintage accurate tones, perfect for the guitarist searching for that classic late '50s sound. The 'Spirit of '59' in the neck position uses historically correct materials and manufacturing methods such as the #42 plain enamel wire & AlNiCo IV magnets to achieve an authentic tone. The pickup is even wound by hand just like the original PAFs were. The Supernova in the bridge is a more modern affair, with a ceramic magnet and a powerful output which works well for driving your amp hard. Saturated distortion tones are easily achieved in this position. A seriously well-made and tastefully appointed instrument for the vintage-guitar lover.
