Michael Messer 12 Fret Blues Resonator Greyburst

Here for sale we have a Michael Messer 12 Fret Blues Resonator guitar in 1930s-Style Greyburst finish. Highly acclaimed English slide guitarist Michael Messer is well known for his virtuosic slide playing both solo and as part of his band the Michael Messer Band. He has been recognised by various different bodies for his guitar playing, winning awards from the BBC and many music magazines over the years. Around 2009, Messer was approached by a friend about a Chinese-made resonator that he thought Messer might be interested in. After some tweaks to the design the Michael Messer Resonator went into production, originally with just two options available - the 'Lightning' and the 'Blues'. A set-neck construction is employed, and comprises a Steel body, Mahogany neck and 19 fret Blackwood Tek fingerboard. A spun Aluminium cone is featured along with a Maple biscuit bridge and vintage-style 3-on-a-strip tuners. All Michael Messer guitars are made in China, and the final set up and quality checks are made in the UK at Dave King Acoustics. The Mahogany neck plays well, with a profile which might be described as a fairly wide 'D' shape. Whilst clearly aimed at the slide player, the profile is well suited to a wide range of playing styles and techniques. The Blackwood Tek fingerboard is pleasant under the fingers, and with its traditional 16" radius is practical for both chordal and melodic playing styles. The smooth lines of the body are comfortable in the arms, with a reassuring weight to the body which provides a sense of dependability and substance to the playing experience. The tone of the Michael Messer 12 Fret Blues is unmistakably 'resonator', delivering those early blues sounds that we know and love. There is plenty of dynamic range on offer, rewarding gentle picking with a soft and intimate tone, whilst strumming more firmly delivers plenty of power to help you be heard over the rest of the band. The instrument's voice really shines through when playing delta blues styles with a slide, offering an authentic playing experience and tone, with powerful low end and singing mids. The voice is full-bodied, offering a wide and dynamic tonal range which is just as at home as a solo instrument as it is as part of an ensemble.
