OLP OCC Orange County Choppers ‘Tank’ Metallic Silver 2005

Here for sale we have an OLP OCC Orange County Choppers 'Tank' electric guitar in Metallic Silver finish with an Orange County Choppers custom 'Tank' design. OLP (Officially Licensed Product) was a guitar building Company who worked with Music Man and Stephen McSwain among other manufacturers. The instruments were manufactured under licence in China, with some special limited run lines produced such as the John Petrucci OLP & this Orange County Choppers model. OLP's licence agreement expired in 2009, coinciding with the start of Music Man's Sterling line. Manufactured in 2005, this guitar features a bolt-on construction comprising a Basswood body, Maple neck and 24 fret Rosewood fingerboard. Chrome hardware is fitted including a T-O-M style bridge and sealed tuning machines. A pair of direct mount humbucking pickups are installed, and are wired to a 3-way blade switch, master volume & master tone controls. This Limited Edition model was made in collaboration with the custom motorcycle manufacturer Orange County Choppers, which was enjoying a wave of popularity in the early 00's due to their successful Discovery Channel TV show. These instruments are a rare find today. The Maple neck plays well, with a profile which could be described as a rather slim 'C' shape. This offers comfortable playability and easy reach in all registers, balanced in the sweet spot between practicality for fast lead lines and a confidence inspiring rhythm playing grip. The rosewood of the fretboard is pleasant under the fingers, and with its 12" radius is practical for a wide range of playing styles and techniques. This is enhanced by Jumbo frets which improve the feel of vibrato and string bending techniques. Amplified, the pair of direct mount humbucking pickups deliver thick and full bodied tones, well suited to rock and metal genres. There is plenty of grunt from the bridge pickup, easily driving your amp into a saturated distortion for rock rhythm parts and riffs. The neck position is of course rounder, yet retains the power required to push your lead lines to the front of the mix. A unique and rather rare instrument which is sure to stand out from the crowd.
