Original production​/​purchase date not known, but probably about 10 years ago. The RD-40VS still appears in the Saga Instruments website, along with the RD-40MS Mahogany version, but the only version which seems to be advertised in the UK currently is the RD-40CHS....personally I much prefer "Vintage Sunburst" over Cherry Sunburst" on these dobros. ____________________________________________________________ *** Extracts from what the makers say about the current Regal RD-40VS model in the "Overview" on the Saga Instruments current website...... Verification report

Excellent condition....very clean with no significant marking to body or fittings, only minor from normal use. Set-up.....Dobro Lap-Slide set-up - String height, with standard tall dobro nut @ 1st. fret is 12mm., @ 12th. fret is also 12mm. Strings....fitted with D'Addario EJ42 Phosphor Bronze Resophonic Guitar 16-56 gauge strings....rather than the previous Nickel strings seen in the photos! There is no case included with the guitar. I may have a period (more like '50s​/​'60s, than '30s!) pressed fibreboard case to fit, but old cases of this type, are not generally very robust or well-fitting...alternative option might be a used but serviceable padded gig-bag, but a dedicated hard case with interior neck rest designed for dobro square neck may be more challenging to find.
