Here for sale we have a Strandberg Boden OS-7 headless 7-string electric guitar in Lace Blue finish. Made in Korea in 2016, this instrument features a bolt-on construction comprising a Swamp Ash body with Book-matched Solid 4A Flame Maple top, Birdseye Maple neck and 24 fret Birdseye Maple fingerboard. Black hardware is fitted including a Strandberg EGS Series 5 fixed bridge & string locks. A pair of Strandberg​/​Lace Alumitone X-Bar passive humbucking pickups are installed, and are wired to a 5-way blade switch, master volume and master tone controls. The Birdseye Maple neck plays exceptionally well, with the 'EndurNeck' profile offering a unique playing experience that whilst unusual at first does encourage ergonomic thumb positioning in all registers. The flattened area to the rear transitions smoothly from the bass side to the treble side as you climb the neck, following the line your thumb would naturally take as you move from chord playing in the lower register to lead lines in the higher frets. The pronounced edges of the profile actually offer comfortable anchor points for the thumb to rest on. The notably flat 20" fingerboard radius is highly practical for lead lines and soloing, and along with the large stainless steel frets ensures that your string bending and vibrato techniques are a smooth and effortless affair. The pair of Strandberg​/​Lace Alumitone X-Bar humbucking pickups deliver clear and precise tones, just as you would expect from such a laser-focussed instrument. Clean sounds are rich and shimmering, especially in the bridge position which is nice and bright. The warmth and roundness of the neck pickup is well suited to lead lines and solos and easily cuts through even the densest of mixes. Both pickups can handle a serious amount of gain, saturating into a rich harmonic distortion as you crank the gain control on the amp. The control layout is restrained, offering comprehensive tonal control without over-complicating things. A striking looking instrument with the specification and precision to back up its outlandish aesthetics. Small indentations are present to the top edge of the headstock, most notable to the treble side edge. All other aspects of the headstock display light signs of past use. Neck: Overall excellent condition. The satin finish to the rear of the neck has buffed to a gloss though regular use. Very light indentations to the rear of the neck are present in the early register but do not impact playability. Body: Overall very good condition. A mild indentation to the treble side of the neck pickup does not pierce the finish. Another mild indentation is present at the bass side lower bout edge where the finish has chipped away exposing the wood. A further, lighter indentation is present at the bass side of the upper horn, having discoloured but not pierced the finish. Similar markings are seen at the treble side waist where the instrument would rest on the player’s leg. The satin finish has worn to a gloss in high contact areas such as the treble side of the bridge pickup, and treble side waist consistent with playwear. Condition of Frets: The frets demonstrate minimal signs of use. There is considerable material remaining for any future fret work the new owner may wish to perform. Current Set Up: Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool (4mm hex) not included. Hardware: Overall very good condition. The tuning ‘buttons’ behind the bridge show light tarnishing.
