This bass is offered for sale to UK BUYERS ONLY. Here for sale we have an absolutely stunning Suhr Classic J electric bass guitar in Trans Honey Amber Burst finish. Suhr guitars are the work of John Suhr, who started his career as a guitar technician at Rudy's Music Stop in NYC. He began building guitars in 1974; creating Mark Knopfler's famous signature model under the Pensa-Suhr name in 1984. After a brief stint as a senior master builder in the Fender Custom Shop from '95 to '97, JS Technologies (Suhr Guitars) was founded in 1997, growing into the world renowned high-end instrument brand we know today. Made in the USA in 2013, this bass is clearly heavily inspired by the Fender Jazz bass, and features a bolt-on construction comprising a Swamp Ash body, Maple neck and 20 fret Maple fingerboard. Along with a Bone nut, Nickel​/​Chrome hardware is fitted including a top-loading 4-saddle bridge and Hipshot open-geared tuning machines. A pair of Classic J Humphrey single-coil pickups are installed, and are wired to master volume and pan controls as well as an active 2-band EQ. The Maple neck plays fantastically well, with the 'Vintage J' profile feeling nicely slender in the hand, and somewhat like a 'D' shape. This provides a nicely flattened area to the centre rear which encourages ergonomic thumb positioning up and down the neck, as well as allowing easy reach in all registers. The lacquered Maple of the fretboard is a smooth and durable playing surface, which with it's traditional 7.25" fingerboard radius delivers a suitably vintage-inspired playing experience. The Medium frets assists with string bending and vibrato techniques whilst also reducing the amount of pressure required to fret a note for a fast feeling neck. Amplified, the pair of Classic J Humphrey single-coil pickups deliver classic original-era tone and power, with smooth rounded lows, clear and open mid range and a sweet treble response that captures the attack and aggression of your playing. The simple control layout offers comprehensive control of your sound without over complicating things or getting in the way of the playing experience. The pots feel nicely responsive, allowing you to dial in your perfect tone with ease, whilst the active 2-band EQ ensures that you can blend into any musical situation. Neck: Overall excellent condition, it is difficult to discern any markings to the neck and fingerboard. Body: Overall very good condition, a small patch of moderate scratching is apparent to the rear face consistent with buckle rash. All aspects of the body demonstrate very light scratching visible under direct lighting at certain angles. Condition of Frets: The frets demonstrate minimal signs of use. There is considerable material remaining for any future fret work the new owner may wish to perform. Current Set Up: Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool (5mm hex) not included. Hardware: Excellent condition. The control plate shows very light scratching under direct light. The pickguard is lifting slightly near the controls. Structural: No concerns or issues to note.
