Here for sale we have a Taylor Builder's Edition 816ce Grand Symphony Electro-Acoustic guitar in Silent Satin finish. Taylor's Builder's Edition guitars represent the top of the line, marrying the companies' finest craftsmanship and luthiery experience with innovative new features which enhance comfort, playability & tone. The 816ce is part of the Grand Symphony family, and falls somewhere between the Grand Auditorium and Dreadnought in both size and sonic qualities. Originally introduced in 2006 and re-voiced in 2020 with Taylor's V-Class bracing, the Grand Symphony balances the power and strummed tone of a large body with the intricate detail and gentle sound of a smaller, more fingerstyle-oriented guitar. Made in the USA in 2020, this Taylor Builder's Edition 816ce features an all-solid bolt-on construction comprising Indian Rosewood back and sides, Lutz Spruce top, Tropical Mahogany neck and 20 fret West African Crelicam Ebony fingerboard with matching bridge. The body is double bound in solid Rock Maple, whilst the top is adorned with an attractive Abalone rosette and Indian Rosewood pickguard. A partial Florentine cutaway is featured with a sound port which helps with projection and access to the upper frets. A Micarta saddle is fitted along with a Tusq nut and a set of Gold Gotoh 510 tuning machines. A Taylor behind-the -saddle piezo pickup is installed, and is wired to Taylor's Expression System 2 preamp with controls for master volume, treble and bass. The Tropical Mahogany neck plays fabulously, with Taylor's ever-popular neck profile sitting comfortably in the hand and providing a smooth and responsive playing experience across the register. The profile might be described as a rather slim 'C' shape which encourages ergonomic thumb positioning and easy reach across the fretboard. The satin finish to the rear of the neck assists with smooth navigation of the 25" scale, whilst the partial cutaway enhances access to the upper frets. The West African Crelicam Ebony of the fingerboard is supremely luxurious to the touch, and with its 14" radius ensures practicality for a wide range of playing styles and techniques. The acoustic voice of the Taylor Builder's Edition 816ce is both rich and finely balanced. The Grand Symphony body design delivers plenty of volume when strumming, projecting beautifully thanks to the Lutz Spruce top, V-Class bracing and sound port. Soft picking parts are well balanced; bright and clear without being at all shrill. The Indian Rosewood back and sides add real depth and character to the sound, creating a warm bass response that manages to stop short of being too soft. The Taylor ES2 piezo pickup and on-board preamp faithfully convey the acoustic tone of the instrument, adding the versatility required for both live and recording situations and offering comprehensive control of your sound.
