Epiphone Texan FT-79 1965 Natural
An iconic vintage Epiphone Dreadnought! We currently have a great selection of vintage acoustic guitars available in our second-hand department and this 1965 Epiphone Texan FT-79 is no exception! Introduced in 1942, the Epiphone Texan was originally manufactured as a square-shoulder dreadnought design before Gibson's acquisition of the company in 1957, when production moved to their Kalamazoo plant and the body shape changed to a slope-shouldered dreadnought, closely resembling the J-45. The guitar is comprised of a solid mahogany back and sides, Sitka Spruce top, 25.5" mahogany neck topped with rosewood fingerboard and the adjustable bridge that was introduced by Gibson in 1962. It comes fitted with the original Kluson Button style machine heads which have been very well maintained over the past 59 years and are not in need of replacement. The guitar has been very well looked after throughout the course of its life and is in great condition relative to its age. The top has honeyed beautifully and a stunning patina has developed across the nitrocellulose top coat which we have tried to capture in the listing photos. There is some light pick wear underneath the rosette and there are small blemishes and nicks across the neck and body, to be expected from a guitar of this age. The narrow, slim taper neck profile makes this guitar a joy to play, and it sounds lively and responsive when played either with a pick or fingers. The guitar has lots of bottom end without being too overpowering and would record beautifully! It includes its original hardcase and comes fully set-up and restrung by our in-house technician.
