Gretsch G6071 Country Gent Monkees Bass 1966 Walnut

Introducing the remarkable Gretsch 6071 Thinline Hollowbody Bass from 1966, complete with its original Gretsch Case. Often hailed as the bass companion to the Tennessean and affectionately dubbed ‘The Monkees Bass’ for its close association with Peter Tork of the Monkees fame. Crafted with precision, the short-scale Gretsch Model 6071 features a 16” single cutaway, single-bound, 2” deep hollow body laminate body adorned with faux F-holes. Its Maple neck boasts a full profile, complemented by a dot inlayed Ebony fingerboard and Zero fret. The single Super’tron pickup is governed by a Master Volume and 3-way tone switch, while additional controls include a lever-operated String mute and Standby switch. Accessing the electronics and String mute mechanism is a breeze through the back of the instrument underneath the Padded back cover. Other premium features include gold-plated Van Ghent tuners, a Space Control bridge on a wooden foot, and a G-cut Gretsch tailpiece. In excellent condition, this bass retains its original, unmolested electronics, with the single CTS pot dating back to the 6th week of 1966. While the heel cap has been replaced by Jonny Kinkade as a precautionary measure, the rest of the binding remains in excellent shape. Currently strung with tape-wound strings, this bass delivers exceptional playability and a captivating sound, both acoustically and when amplified. Given the unique headstock design of the 7061, having the correct Gretsch 6233 Streamliner case is essential.
