Here for sale we have a Hagstrom HJ500 in Gloss Natural finish. Built in China in 2007, this guitar features a set neck construction comprising a Canadian Maple hollow body, a Canadian Maple and 22 fret Composite Resinator fingerboard. Chrome hardware is fitted including a Hagstrom Tremar Vibrato Tailpiece, an Ebony-based Adjusto-Matic bridge and a set of sealed Hagstrom tuning machines. The pickups installed are a pair of Hagstrom HJ-50 humbuckers which are wired to a 3-way toggle switch. master volume, master tone and independent pickup volume controls. The Canadian Maple neck sits comfortably in hand, with a profile resembling a ‘C’ shape, feeling slim and quick in the hand and providing a comfortable and ergonomic playing surface. The Gloss finish to the rear of the neck ensures effortless navigation of the 25.5” scale, whilst the single cutaway enhances access to the upper frets. The Composite Resinator fingerboard with its 15” radius provides a nicely flat and consistent playing experience right the way up the register, perfect for smooth jazzy lead lines as well as tricky chord voicings. The acoustic voice of the Hagstrom HJ500 is bright and snappy thanks to its Maple construction. The large body produces ample dynamic range which feels very responsive to the player’s touch. Coupled with the Hagstrom HJ-50 humbucking pickups, the tone is thick and warm, perfect for a wide range of playing styles and techniques. A distinct top-end that is articulate and well-defined is well complemented by open and clear mids. The controls offer plenty of flexibility, with independent volumes allowing you to finely blend both pickups in the middle position. The top edge demonstrates some scuffing and indentation, piercing the finish slightly. Neck: Overall very good condition, the rear of the neck demonstrates very light indentation which is only visible under direct lighting at certain angles. The fingerboard inlays are lifting in places, but do not affect the overall playability of the instrument. Body: Overall good condition. Lacquer cracks are present to either side of the neck pocket, these have been stress tested and present no structural concerns. The front face demonstrates a moderate indentation to the treble side of the lower bout, cracking the finish. The rear demonstrates some scuffing and wear of the finish consistent with buckle rash. All aspects of the body demonstrate very light scratching and indentation that is difficult to discern against the natural finish. Condition of Frets: This instrument has had a fret level and recrown in-house to ensure the best possible playability. There is considerable material remaining for any fret work the new owner may wish to perform. Current Set Up: Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool (3mm hex) not included. Hardware: Fully functional with moderate signs of oxidation and tarnishing to the metal parts. The Hagstrom logo on the scratchplate has worn off, consistent with playwear.
