Here for sale we have an absolutely lovely Vintage VE8000PB-12 parlor acoustic guitar in Natural finish. Modelled after Paul Bretts Weymann 12-string , this guitar features a set-neck construction comprising a Solid Sitka Spruce top, Laminated Rosewood back and sides, Mahogany neck and 18 fret Rosewood fingerboard with matching bridge. The body is double-bound, the back is adorned with an attractive traditional back-strip, and the top is decorated with stripe purfling and multi-stripe rosette. A Fishman Acoustic Matrix VT preamp is installed and features soundhole mounted Volume and Tone controls. The Mahogany neck plays beautifully, with a profile appropriate for an instrument based on pre-war design. The neck feels rather substantial in the hand, with quite a thick 'C' shape to the rear and a nut width of 1.882". This affords the guitar ample string spacing for accurate fretting and note separation which is perfect for fingerstyle players. The Rosewood of the fingerboard is pleasant under the fingers, and along with the attractive pearloid dot inlays adds a touch of luxury to the playing experience. The 14" radius is practical for chordal, melodic and fingerstyle playing, whilst the small body size is supremely comfortable in the arms. The acoustic voice of the VE8000PB-12 is very well balanced, delivering a delicate and intimate tone which is perfect for fingerstyle playing as well as recording. The Parlor body size is renowned for its even balance, with its small stature reducing any of the 'boominess' often associated with larger body designs. The Rosewood of the back and sides add a depth and character to the sound which more than compensates for the soft bass response. The Solid Sitka Spruce top projects very well, and whilst clearly not the loudest of instruments provides an ample & sensitive dynamic range. The top rear edge and slots for the peg head display indentations some of which pierce the finish. Any other markings are difficult to discern. Neck: Overall very good condition. Light indentations are present to the fingerboard most noticeably to the fingerboard edges and to the treble side of the 12th fret, these can slightly be felt n the playing position. A finish imperfection is present to the rear of the neck behind the 1st fret, this is from the factory. Body: Overall very good condition. Mild scratching is present to the lower bout edge on both the treble and bass sides, these have pierced the finish and can be felt under the fingers. A mild chip to the body is present to the front face treble side edge, this has been tested and is structurally sound. Condition of Frets: The frets demonstrate very light signs of use, not affecting playability. There is considerable material remaining for any fret work the new owner may wish to perform. Current Set Up: Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool (4mm hex) not included. Hardware: Overall very good condition. The top of the bridge displays light scratching, this is consistent with a previous owner changing strings. Structural: No concerns of issues to note.
